Fika and Lace

The Swedes have a lovely tradition of Fika.  It's meaning is a pretty nice alliteration  - cosy, coffee, usually candles ... and always cake!  What is there not to like about that combo?!!
My lovely friend invited me round for coffee.  And she'd made cake, so add to those two elements a cosy kitchen ambiance and you have a Fika. It was far too sunny for candles.

So off I went for Fika.

She'd made a swiss roll and a chocolate cake.  Both absolutely yummy.  She's a great cook and makes the most delicious cakes and puddings.

A nice fika on a sunny February morning.  February Fika.  Another alliteration

And the important stuff ... the breakdown of what one wear wears for Fika?

The de rigueur jeans and cardi.  But I also took another Dotty P bargain on its first outing.

It's a sleeveless lacy top, perfect for layering.  I'd been looking for a lacy layering top for some time ... about a year, my research is thorough!  Finally I found it on the sales rail.  Bingo!
£7, thank you very much.  Have a nice day.

It's got lovely lace scalloping at the bottom edge and a stretchy jersey modesty underlayer, so need for fiddling around with a separate camisole.
The neckline is high.  This makes it perfect for winter wear.

I can see this top going places.  It will definitely go with lots of cardi shapes.  With  black or distressed blue jeans.  With a jacket.  With a smart black skirt.  It may even work with a denim skirt.  Ooooh, how I am itching to test it to its limits!

Do you have a lacy layering top?  Have you come up with a fave way of wearing yours?
A partnership that maybe I haven't thought of ?

A la perchoine.

  6. Are the cards for fika? Yes I'm liking lace too. You're a pro at bargains aren't you. My Dotty P has closed sadly. I tried to find your lace sleeved top. Instead I've just bought a lace blouse. It was in a sale but not £7. A good idea to not just keep it for summer. yes I did notice you're wearing grey and white. I thought I'd keep that too last.

    1. He he. The cards weren't Fika congratulations! My Fika Friend and I were searching for such a top in Sussex last April, to wear with jeans in summer. It's taken nearly a year but I got there! Looking forward to seeking your lace bargain. Have fun in NY!
