My dearest sweet people, how the devil are YOU?!
I’m still on holiday and I’m working from my phone today and the keyboard’s interaction with the blogger site is a bit , er, weird. For that reason I’m doing something slightly different.. I sat on the stairs and had a little chat with you instead of typing up my usual tome.
Very briefly, I’d like to know how you feel about going to the hairdressers. It’s not my favourite thing, I’m not going to lie. Perhaps it’s because I’m a little indifferent to my hair immediately I walk out of the salon. So please spend the time you’d usually spend reading my written word to sit down with a cuppa and have a chat about hair. Then hopefully you’ll drop me a few lines to share how YOU feel about your hair immediately you leave the salon. I’d love to hear of your experiences.
Oh, and normal service WILL be resumed shortly. Honest.
A la perchoine,
Mary x.
I don't go to the hairdressers. I cut and colour my own. Hate going to the hairdressers! Lovely listening to you Mary xx
ReplyDeleteThank you and oh so funny, Laurie, you hate going to the hairdressers!!! You are so lucky to be able to cut and style your luscious locks so expertly, your hair ALWAYS looks the bees knees. I

I completely agree with you! My hair is grey now and has lost most of its' curl and really needs "help" to look decent. I wait a day but feel the need to put my own spin on it. I love the video!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you watched and ENJOYED the video, Terri. It was impromptu. Yes, I think as our hair thins it really needs all the products we can throw at it. And wigs!

I agree too. Going to the HD should be a treat but iT hardly ever is. I always come away thinking that I could have done a much beter job! (who am I kidding?). Anyway, these days I am realistic; I go in expecting the result to not be to my liking and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised when it is not as bad as I was expecting. Haha. There are worse things in life ...when the HD accidentally puts in conditioner which makes for pancake hair extraordinaire!
ReplyDeleteSo true Dutchie, I guess we know out own hair by now. What a lovely approach, not expecting much so you are not disappointed. But avoid dark hair colour washes, you don't want to have your friends jumping out of their skins eh?!!!

I actually love going. My dreams came true when I found a wonderful hairdresser who lives down the street from me and works from a room in her basement. Before this, I had to "break up" with several stylists, which was traumatizing.;-) She is good, fast, and makes me look good...what else could I ask for? I now go every 3 weeks to keep my hair in shape. I am so happy to give her a tip, and relieved that I don't have to tip an assistant for washing my hair....one of my pet peeves. Your hair looks great, BTW.
ReplyDeleteSusan, you have been blessed! You're describing the experience most of us dream of. You've struck lucky with yours and let's hope she doesn't leave town for many years to come!
DeleteHugs my dear, x.
Since a year or three I found the first hair dresser of my life, and believe me I've been to a lot, that totally does what I want. I'm always happy when I step outside her salon. But she is really the first one!
ReplyDeleteWell, Nancy, there's hope for us all. So pleased you've finally found the hairdressers of your dreams.
DeleteHugs my lovely, x.
I love how smooth and ladylike my hair is when I come out of the salon - but I hate how long it takes, and how tedious it is. I have to wash my hair every day because it quickly goes rogue and looks scruffy if I don't. Hopefully the haircut on Saturday will improve things! Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday.
ReplyDeleteHow refreshing to hear of your hairdressing experiences, Gail. I hate feeling trapped in the hairdressers chair too, and I usually close my eyes through to the end ( maybe that's where I'm going wrong!!). I too used to wash daily but in retirement I'm trying to keep to 3 days - and a lot of dry shampoo! Looking forward to seeing you newly coiffed locks next week,.

SAME!!! I'm not one of those people who walks out thinking, "don't I look great". LOL I need to get my hands in it and give it my own special touch. I have so darn much hair, nobody else can do it like I can. (wow, that sounds egotistical...but you know what I mean.) You're a doll!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of truth in what you say, Lisa. It's not big-headed, we know how our hair functions and we know what we like!
DeleteThanks for being so sweet and hugs my friend, x.
Oh, you have hit it right on the button with this one! I, too, am less than thrilled after each visit to the hairdresser. I have fairly thick, mid-length hair with a couple of layers towards the bottom to keep it 'swishy', and now go just twice a year to have several inches cut off and get the layers redefined (I cut my own fringe in between). I always think I blow dry it better than in the salon (well, I've been doing it since my teens and I'm now in my 60s...). I wash my hair pretty much every day, so it's always a relief to get back to normal the next day! It just doesn't look like me when the hairdresser does it, and they seem to do something weird with my fringe, lol. But, being British, of course I say 'thank you, that looks lovely!' And smile brightly... But the cut is always epic, which is the main thing as it has to last for 6 months.

Fun different way to do a blog post! :) I find it hit and miss at the hairdresser sometimes! I can love what I went in for or I can regret it, haha! I am lucky I found a great hairdresser my mum and sister love and so I went to her when I donated my hair. I might still feel a bit unsure about how to style it and feel it's so short, but she did a great job and I get nothing but compliments!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp :) The next weekday wear linkup is live on my blog, I'd love you to join!
Hope that you had a lovely Easter :)
