My Snow Days: 4, The Wrap-up

... or, The One Where I Get To Drink Lots Of Coffee

My dearest sweetie-pies.  Even if you were caught up in my childlike enthusiasm for our dusting of snow these past few days, you may think by now that I should be easing off on the snow-shots ...
Nah!  Allow me to share my puerile passion with you just one more day.  Pretty please.
It's a wrap-up of my snowy posts, and a wrap up of me!

When I was not out frolicking, I was wrapped up in (faux) fur and hunkered down indoors and knocking back the drinks, coffee being my tipple of choice these days.

But sometime late on our third (and final 😢) day of snow I realised I'd forgotten one important shot.

The Christmas Card Shot!

I'd taken a snow shot when we last had the stuff about 5 years ago.  I couldn't waste this opportunity.

So it was blind panic at Chez Pout.  The snow was starting to melt.  The light was failing.
"Grab something red" I ordered suggested.  "I'll grab the red lippy and the coffee".

5 years ago it was champagne.  Now it's a hot drink.  Oh how we have aged in 5 years!
Of course, the hot drink effort was totally wasted, no steam was to be seen spewing out of the cups (Habitat) as I'd hoped.
But a draping of red and a backdrop of white and I think we are good to go.

  Christmas Card 2018, done!

After having experienced this panic at almost forgetting the Christmas Card shot, I realised there were other snow opportunities I'd missed.  So in preparation for our next snow fall in five years time, I've started putting together a little "When It Snows Checklist".  It includes things like organising smart outerwear and thermals, and creating candle cosiness out in the garden.  I don't want to waste a moment next time it snows.

I think these pigeons didn't need a checklist to find shelter on the bird table.

My checklist will include a Note to Cat to be mindful of falling icicles (he had quite a scare!).

And a note to TP that this is what happens to golf courses in snow

... they close.  Get over it!

Well, perhaps those of you in the USA, Russia, Scandinavia and other cold climes don't quite share my snow excitement.  And perhaps you are sniffing at my thin coating and scoffing "Do you call that snow?".  But it really is a novelty over here.
The blizzard missed us but hit parts of the UK with full force, so I'm guessing that for a fair few of my UK readers it was disruptive rather than fun.

And I'm guessing that I'm the only one writing up a snow checklist for next time.  Am I right?

Normal service will be resumed in the next post and this blog will revert to snow-free content once more.  Sadly.

A la perchoine.

  1. Yes, we are in fact soul sistas! You make a checklist for when it snows since that's rare for you and I make a checklist for when it gets cold. You are all kinds of excited about a dusting of snow and I am over the moon excited when the high here will only be 68 degrees! See, we are very easy to please just give us a little change in the weather. What lucky men TP and Brian are; it doesn't take fancy gifts just snow and cold!
I seriously need a vacation in the snow so I could get all cuddled up and cozy with a warm drink by a fireplace. I just love your snow shots.
Here's hoping TP's golf course is back to normal soon - what a bummer for him!
    Hugs sista!

    1. Oh sista, we're cheap to run! You need to get yourself to Lake Tahoe, for snow AND maybe a meet up with Lisa - wild!
Gorgeous here today, 10c/50f, sun and blue skies, no wind. Just back from a beach walk. A few days ago it was -10c real temp and I was huddled in a fur! Hugs, x.

    1. Oh sweet Polly, thanks, you say the sweetest! Our snow melted that evening and we have zilch left come Friday. Hope you have a gorgeous first week of spring, it's fab here.
BTW, have you contacted any rellies on Ancestry yet? That bit proves just how reliable the amazing DNA testing is! Hugs, x.

    2. I used to belong to Ancestry and traced my family tree and was in touch with quite a few relatives. This one is My Heritage, they have sent a list of folks with matching DNA. but I have to join if I want to contact any of them.

    3. Well, we contacted three from our lists and all verified as rellies, which shows the accuracy of the testing. Good luck, x.

  3. How sad that your snow is almost gone if not gone as you and TP have had such fun with it. Love your enthusiasm and your fun take on everything and you always look great even bundled up against the cold.

    1. Aw thanks, Christy, it is sad. But we've had a blindingly sunny day today so all is not total gloom and doom at Chez Pout. Thanks for your kind words, you are sweetness itself. Hope you get out of YOUR winter boots soon! Hugs for a happy spring week, x.

  4. What a wonderful Christmas card, and super idea. You look very snuggly and warm wrapped up in your furry blanket! I bought myself one last year and had it stolen - by my little doggie Roxy!! I will have to buy anew one, but I feel sure she will conquer that one too! Ha ha. Jacqui

    1. Thanks Jacqui, and what a furry dog story! Mine is not under threat, my car is fearful of my throw and gives me a,wide berth when I'm snuggled up. Maybe he's jealous of my other furry pet! Hugs, x.

  6. I love the red on you! and you are a sport to be out in the snow. It is funny here, as when we seem to get an inch , everything closes! It is very pretty for pictures though and I love a faux fur throw and cup of tea when its cold out!

  7. That's going to be a brilliant Christmas card!

I think they're collared doves not pigeons, Mary. They're newcomers to the UK only since the 1950s, I believe.

I'm so happy the snow and the freezing cold has gone...

    1. Thanks, Vronni.
Funny you say that because TP told me he thought they were some type of dove but I charged into this post calling them pigeons. Typical me! Thanks for identifying the type, we'll be able to sound knowledgeable now!
Hope you didn't suffer any big thaw problems. Walks are easier now, eh.
      Hugs my pretty, x.

  8. I totally get your excitement of snow if you don't see much of it. It's how I feel when I see a palm tree! I love your picture of you cozied up with your hot cocoa. That is the best way to get through winter!

    1. As Amy, I'll never look at another palm tree without thinking of you. I have three in my garden so you will be frequently in my thoughts! Hugs, x.

    1. Oh I'm going to check yours out because (as I keep repeating in broken record style), have you checked out this weekend's forecast?!!!
Many thanks about the card, I sometimes struggle to find the right card cover so this one is going to be useful ... did you like my doggy drawing on Christmas 2017? Hugs, loveliness, x.
