Hi darlings. It's still a bit blowy, but the sun is shining and the temps about 16-17, so it's all good.
I was just saying to The Photographer today, that even if we could get the outdoor lighting right on the camera so that I don't look bleached white, there'd still be the wind to contend with on most days.
We live on an island. Coastal = windy. So most days we do indoor shots. Hey ho.
And now here's a little story.
Let's go back to 2011. North coast of Sjaelland, Denmark. A super restaurant. A nice lunch. All of that is committed to memory. But why I remember this restaurant so vividly is that in walked a super-stylish Swedish lady of similar age wearing white jeans, flatties and a long pale jumper that is best described as blonde. Her top matched her Scandi blonde hair. I want that look, I whispered to myself.
It took me 6 years to find the right shade and shape of blonde jumper, making one slightly erroneous purchase along the way. I am dedicated to the cause. And so it was that this spring I spotted a sweater in the Next sale which looked like it fitted the bill, so I swooped. At £6 reduced from £35, of course I was going to swoop!
With apologies for the (blonde?) filter I accidentally pressed, here's the laced bit at the back.
I finally have my Swedish Lady look. My blonde on blonde. Or Blonde on grey as during the 6 years it's taken to find the top, my hair has greyed! As I say, I'm dedicated to the cause.
The jumper is just perfect for a day like today, sunny but with a slight wind chill.
And another day. another look.
The blonde jumper goes well with other bottoms too, like the jeans I wore recently.
It's a nice, easy, sloppy joe sort of jumper that's perfect for transitional seasons.
And from the photos, I can see that I instinctively go to the same shoes to match to the jumper, my Clarks metallic toe flatties.
Do you ever commit a look to your memory bank and finally roll it out a long time later?
And does it work out just as you imagined it would?
Maybe some of you out there are just as dedicated to the cause as me!
A la perchoine.
Well you know I am. I think white and cream is really classy. You may see that as a being. ...
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, yes you are and I hope we're not alone in storing OOTDs for future use. I've a few more blonde on blondes to try out, just waiting for this weekend's warmer weather!
DeleteBlowy is an understatement.... Are you getting ready to star in sub-titled Scandi thriller-noir on telly? Am trying to think how to write in Swedish accent but can't do it....
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, as I type I'd like to think I'm channelling my Saga Noren (beautiful, slim detective in Scandi-noir The Bridge) but I am probably coming across your end as The Swedish Chef - so I think the answer to your question is "No"!
DeleteHi, Mary...I thought I would drop in and see how life on Guernsey is going and love that fabulous top. That back rocks. Oh, I store looks in my mind forever. Sometimes it's just one little thing I need to add to get it done.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that I'm not alone in the mental notes! Thanks for popping in and for your sweet words. Life was fun last week, half term grandkiddies time, a sleepover, a birthday and a wedding. This week is turning out to be rather dull by comparison :-(. Though someone phoned out of the blue yesterday to invite me to a 50 year reunion ... but I have to wait until October!
DeleteOh Pout, you have sent me on a mission. I must find a blonde sweater. This outfit looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping you busy, Susan! I show things that fit my lifestyle and this certainly works this time of year. Hugs, Pout.
DeleteYes, I did spend years trying to perfect a look...a long time ago in the 1970s a young woman came to work as an assistant to the psychologist in the hospital where I was doing my nurse training.
ReplyDeleteShe wore a t shirt over jeans and a shirt over the t shirt. It's a timeless style and I love it. I didn't recreate that look until many years later but it's one I wear again and again.
Your blonde sweater outfit is very cool..
Oh, Vronni, I loved reading your story. Great that you stored that one for so many years. It's one I'll look out for on your blog now!
