What I've Been Wearing Lately

The Best Laid Plans

As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been doing stuff.  Fun family stuff, baking stuff,  house stuff, holiday planning stuff and half term stuff.
Half term was glorious with the most amazing weather.  And so it has continued.
I've been doing sombre family stuff too and the blog was the thing that had to give.

Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans.
Beautiful Boy, John Lennon.

You'll notice with me and my blog that we're feast or famine.  We're like buses, you wait for ages and then two come along in rapid succession.  I guess that maybe sums up the hobby blogger, we lack the "no matter what, the post must get out" gene.

During this time I've done a bit of soul searching and thought I should maybe try some more frequent but shorter posts - easy for you to read and easy for me to write.  But not today!
Whilst I experiment, I'll still pop in some meatier posts as I love writing my little stories  (when I have time) and your feedback is that you enjoy reading them (when you have time).
So that's the plan, but we know what John says happens to plans eh?

Let's do a round-up of outfits.

I am so drawn to winter white of late, and this little V neck classic jumper is getting a lot of my love.  It is light and hangs just right. (M&S).

Berry cardi over black polo and jeans column.  Pendant.

This pendant (on repeat in this post!) is feeling my love too.  The chain has random black beads and the drop is beige/brown/black one side, and mother of pearl effect upon the flipside, so I  wear the side that most compliments the OOTD.   So versatile in my wardrobe.

That jumper again!  That pendant again!
The Zara hooded coatigan has also come out to play again in the sunny but cooler days at the beginning of February.

I went traditional for Valentine's.  Red jersey for our cosy stay at home yummy meal which TP cooked.  Hope your day was cosy too.

Decluttering and reorganising reaps little nuggets, like these two silver pendants.
I stumbled upon a little jewellery box when reorganising cupboards recently.  The box had belonged to a deceased aunt's and was found when house clearing some years ago.  The jewellery had been mangled up and blackened with age but I'd saved it from being dumped.  Thought dumping it was disrespectful.  I'm soft like that.
So I got out an old toothbrush and washing up liquid and set to work (I usually use toothpaste for this job).  They cleaned up beautifully.
They're handmade silver and I know who made them, so there's a fair bit of sentiment attached to these pieces.  One has a classic pearl insert and the other a gorgeous bluish stone that changes to a rainbow 🌈 of colours depending on angle and light.
Does anyone know what this stone is called?

For the birthday lunch I cooked I wore similar to this but with black jeans and no belt.  I was too busy to take photos, cooking my emergency second birthday cake (see previous post LIFE AND BAKING, HERE !!)

Just a light cashmere cardi and white T were all I needed on this sunny day ... oh and a furry muffler.
I was having a bit of a panic fur-wear day.   Spring is coming and I've hardly worn my fur mufflers!!  It's been that mild a winter that I've hardly noticed it or dressed for it.

Do you have the end of season panic-wears too?!

After  a few days of sorting things out after my elderly uncle passed away, this was my "Nah, let's eat at the pub tonight" outfit.
Black jeans and a plaid shirt - which is apparently called flanno and has its own has tag on Insta!

Enjoying a sunny evening walk after a dentist checkup,  in coated jeans double cashmere.  Because I can.
I have two same coloured cashmere mix jumpers (Next), funnel and v neck.  I thought it would be nice to wear the v as a scarf and then I'd have back up if the evening turned a bit chilly.  It didn't, so it was pure fashion statement the whole walk!

Another day, another walk.  This time whilst experiencing spring before it changed to summer a few days later.  So for warmth I wore a long brown cardi over jeans and, yup, that winter white v neck again!)

And the feel of summer that we had for a few days this week got me hankering after some serious summer dress action.

But as my legs aren't summer-ready, I just looked at pictures.

Are YOU ready for spring now?  Or shall we just fast-track straight to summer, ladies, slap on the Instatan and get those summer frocks working?!

So that's what I've been wearing lately.  Mostly my winter white v neck it would seem!
Are there any pieces that YOU'VE had on repeat these past few weeks?

And so, that was February, gone.
It was a cracking month here and we've all felt blessed with the warm sunny days we've been on given.

Enjoy your weekend, my lovelies, whether the weather be March heatwave,  polar vortex or something seasonal in between.  And have fun dressing for your day, whatever the weather!!

A la perchoine,
Mary x.

  3. I am envious of all those lovely lighter outfits. Going for a walk in a warm sweater brings chills to my bones at the thought. I am so looking forward to spring when maybe I can bring out the lighter options.

    1. Oh poor you Chrissy, you must be in the polar vortex zone. Keep warm in coats and hats and whatever it takes! Our weather is on the change back to winter today🤨.

  4. Very chic and beautifully put together outfits, Mary. I absolutely love your inherited pendants. I wonder if the colour changing 'stone' could be Abalone shell? That looks iridescent and changes colours.

I've been pleasantly surprised with our warm snap and being able to wear fewer clothes, but we're just about to face a colder snap so I'll get to wear some of those 'oh my goodness I haven't worn xyz yet'clothes.' As you say end of season panic wears!

Hope your weekend is going well,
    xxxx

    1. Well there’s an idea, Vronni, I’ll look up abalone. They are really quite beautiful.
I reckon we’re going to appreciate the opportunity to wear those jumpers that bit more after our warm snap, winter’s not over yet!
Have a cosy Sunday with OH, x.

  5. Oh, John Lennon, I LOVE him!!!! That song, actually all of his songs, just get me right in the heart. Such talent.
Anyway, o much to say. Love your Valentine's dress - you look so sexy, no wonder TP kept you in and cooked you dinner. Smart man!
You were wise to keep the aunt's jewelry and clean it up, what a treasure. I am having a lot of Spring panic - the weather is warming up faster than I'd like and I haven't worn nearly half of my winter outfits - in fact I haven't worn a scarf at all this season. The rest of the year is one season here - hot, humid, summer and that gets old after a month. My fingers are crossed for a few more cool or even cold days!
Hugs to you and sweet TP!

    1. Yes, such a shame the world lost Lennon 😢 .
Oh so funny about TP keeping me in, but truth is Valentine's can be very formulaic in the hands of the wrong restaurateur, so home (and a sexy dress!) wins.
Glad you're with me on the end of season panic, sista, seasons just aren't reliable any more.
Hugs, have a great week, x.

  7. Oh those pendants are beautiful! it's great you could clean them up and give them a wear - I have some old silver pieces I haven't worn in years and they are tarnished just by being in storage (I suspect perhaps from the perfume I was wearing whenever I wore them) I'll need to look into the toothpaste trick! :)

Hoping your week is off to a good start :) I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I'd love you to join! :)
