It's Sunday. The birds are singing and the sun is shining. I'm getting ready to go out for lunch and that means a call out to The Photographer. So what do I do? Yup, I position myself against said sun for my OOTDs! Sorry.
Call me sad but one of the many things I
like love about this time of year is being reunited with old favourites. You too? Thought so.
I was so excited to pull out my fave chinos. M&S about 5-6 years ago but boy have I been getting my CPW down on these. These past few years it's been quite a cliffhanger with their first wear of summer.
Are there any patches of wornoutedness? No.
Do they still fit? Yes!
And then, phew, breathe. All is right with the world.
I fear the day that they will give up the ghost on me. So I ordered a couple of pairs of chinos this morning. Back up, just in case. They may disappoint.
Do you find that you hit on something really good, then re-order from the same brand, pretty much the same cut, colour and fabric - and they just don't cut the mustard like your original item?
White Company taupe trapeze cardi, Next layer blouse.
Yes, all neutrals but I'm of the beige persuasion. There, my secret's out!
Necklace and earrings from way back. I dug them out of the jewellery cupboard this morning and oh joy, did they bring back memories. A holiday in Corfu, 2003. Brilliant holiday. I remember wearing this jewellery with a black vest dress for a dinner in our favourite restaurant on the island (yet I still struggle to work out what day it is today ...).
I expect Corfu is bracing itself for the Captain Corelli effect that Kefalonia experienced. It's just as pretty as it's portrayed in The Durrells ... anyone know if it was actually filmed there?
Oh how I digress with you guys! Back to the OOTD. I changed it!
And we all know that TP loves all this outfit changing? Not.
Yes, I agree with TP (and maybe you too?), the change was subtle and just swapping one beige for another may seem hardly worth the effort but I fancied some more reunion thrills.
So my Zara pearly jumper was given its first airing of SS18 too.
And I swapped the heels for Clarks metallic toe flatties.
'Twas but a moment's work to achieve just the right amount of beige!
Sling on a string of pearls (beige).
And Sunday lunch, beige is comin' ta getcha!
A la perchoine.
Love the pearly jumper! (Or indeed, anything with pearls on....). I know exactly what you mean about the old favourites. I have lots in my bag of summer clothes which made its way down from the loft. As for the problem of never finding the right style from the same store again, I have a pair of M&S navy straight leg trousers which are about 5 years old, but just perfect in every way. And I have never found another pair there that look the same.ReplyDelete
Thanks, Gail, so pleased I found my Pearly Queen jumper! Your navy trousers sound ideal, why oh why does Marks reinvent the wheel when it ain't broke to start with eh?Delete
Have a smashing rest of week, hugs x.
Well you look lovely in all the neutral tones my friend. Glad it is warming up and you're out and about having fun! Mostly I am glad that our beloved TP is once again shooting your photos and giving you input, sounds like he is all healed up - amen!ReplyDelete
Nothing snarky from your Floridian friend today just hugs!!
Thank you, Mrs ,and I adore my Favourite Floridian Friend, snarky or not!Delete
Yes, amen to TP and his healing and he's pleased to be out and about again too.
Have a fabbo week, bestie! Hugs, x.
Hello Beige Beauty! Oh good news TP is working his talents for me lady! Yes to warmer weather, pretty neutrals and my precious friends across the pond!ReplyDelete
So very sweet, Andrea! My bland beige is yin to your red, white and shoes yang. Perfect harmony and balance spanning the pond.Delete
Maybe TP should start doing guest blog appearances, wouldn't that be fun?!!
Hugs, stunning lady, x
I think the Durrells were filmed in Kontokali where I stayed last October with middle grandson. There were pictures of the hotel owner's son taken with the cast in the dining room....ReplyDelete
Thanks, Vronni, I think I remember that post now. We were staying up north. It's such a beautiful island eh?Delete
Sounds like the filming was a positive experience for the islanders. Hugs, my sweetness x
I love finding my old classics when I pull out my seasonal clothes. Those pants are fabulous on you!ReplyDelete
Hi Ruth, they feel like new every year! And it's nice to find a few surprises in there too, eh? Hugs, my sweet, xDelete
Neutrals! My all time favourite! Looking fantastic here Mary. I bought two pairs of trousers from Primark years ago and still trying to find the same to no avail! Primark of all places!ReplyDelete
I did think of you when I was declaring my love for neutrals. Gosh we have so much in common, fear of flying and dentists, love of neutrals ...Delete
Yes I always think it's crazy when manufacturers (clothes, make up etc) come up with something brilliant then stop the line. I'm talking to you, Max Factor and your Nouveau Beige cream eyeshadow!
Hugs, my sweet, x.
I've got the chinos you ordered. I bought mine 3 summers ago and top tip, I use the belt on different trousers all the time as well. They may have changed the cut of course but I will be looking forward to your thoughts on them.ReplyDelete
Well,no surprise there, younger twin! I'm excited to try them out now that you've got them. Thanks for the tip on the belt. I'll post my try on when they arrive, they were due today but I'm guessing the courier decided to watch wedding instead... or more likely the cup final!Delete
Hugs, my sweet, x.
Love the neutrals and layers in the first look. I really love that pearl sweater too!ReplyDelete
Thanks Amy. You know, there are some things that one's eternally grateful to have found, and I just realised I'm wearing most of mine in this one post! Hugs, my pretty, x.Delete
So glad you are enjoying some nice spring weather! I love the pearly sweater on you and I often get in the mood for neutrals too.ReplyDelete
The metallic shoes are the perfect accompaniment to your look! I enjoy taking out my spring/summer clothes, as it is a fun reunion .
thanks for linking!
I think these neutral colours would showcase your beautiful hair, Jess.Delete
Thanks for your kindness, like your calling it a fun reunion with your hot weather clothes, nice turn of phrase. White jeans is my favourite reunion!
Thanks for hosting, my sweet, x.
