Self-nurturing with Cocoa

Just a quickie today because we're finally able to get out and about so we're walking at every and any opportunity.  Feels so good to stretch the old legs and feel a hint of spring around us.

The weather may be mellowing but it's still nice to enjoy some cosy times indoors too.

(and yes, I DO label my pine cones!)

Cocoa with mini marshmallows stirred by a festive little person dressed for colder days.  Oh and maybe a Jaffa Cake or two, or six ...!

Why don't you give yourself a few moments for a bit of hygge ... a candle, a warm drink and your favourite cardi cocooning you through the fresh spring chills.   Allow yourself time to think, time to look out the window and see nature and birds go about their business in the crisp spring air.
Now that's what I call self-nurturing!

Wishing you a hyggelig day.
A la perchoine.

  1. Sending a hygge to you too. Our weather has turned a smidge cooler her in Sydney with a hint of autumn in the air. Your little red spoon is cute but I admit that I'm not fond of marshmallow and prefer a cup of chai latte. I will join you with a jaffa cake though. Happy Spring.

    1. Hi Pieta, that's sounding like good news, hooray for autumn! I don't drink tea but I'll gladly make you something resembling your tipple and we'll crack open a box of the Jaffas. Done deal! Hugs, x.

  2. I'm so glad the snow has gone! A disastrous few days for me! I used to love Jaffa cakes! I can't have them now because of my allergies! :-(

    1. Oh heck, hope you got back from your mum's OK. I wish I could make some yummy allergy-tolerant goodies for you. But you are gorgeous as you are so whatever you ARE eating is doing you much better than my Jaffa cakes!!
      Hugs darling, x.

    1. Yes Laura, it's so easy to dash around in what I call Achieving Mode, feeling pleased with our accomplishments. But we need some stillness in which to gather our thoughts and to contemplate the simplicity of life. Enjoy your tea time, hugs x.

  5. I would be all about six too! They look tasty. Everything about this post is just delightful, especially the reminder to just look outside and take it in!

  6. Well that sounds marvelous and since you suggested it I am going to do it! Cocoa and cookies sound so nice but since I gave up sweets (what the heck was I thinking?) I'll have to change up the snack. Oh, smart girl I am - I can have almonds and wine! Oh yes, that sounds fabulous!
Glad it's finally warming up. I hope TP's golf course is looking better!

    1. You are one clever cookie. Erhm, make that one clever handful of almonds! Your comments are reading more and more English these days, BTW. TP played on a friend's course today, next to the sea, so - course drained, tick; picturesque, tick; bloomin' cold, BIG tick. Hugs my luvvaducks, x.

  7. This is a good reminder to stop and take in our surroundings, listen to the birds etc. It's warming up around here and spring is on it's way so I can bring out the lighter footwear and jackets. I don't 'do' coffee but will join you with a cup of tea and a jaffa cake.

    1. Well Lara, if you like chocolate, cake, and really tart orange then you've really got to find some/make some. Trouble is, they're highly addictive ... 1 means 6! Hope you've had your duvet day and you're feeling better. Hugs, x.

  10. After reading your description of Jaffa cakes (which seems to be a British icon that I had never heard of), I immediately went to find a recipe-they do look a bit labor intense. But, not saying I won't try to make them sometime in the future.

Our weather has been somewhat unpredictable here too. One day you think you've made it through the bad bits and the next day you have a strong north wind in your face and the temp has dropped 20 degrees.

Mornings are a good time to make time, I think and now being retired, I don't think I have an excuse not to. A little bit of reading and a small facial sets me right.

Take care and here's to spring for all of us on the northern half of this giant blue ball. xox

    1. Hi Terri, I've never made them (because they are so easy to buy!) but I'm thinking it would be something like this: using a patty tin or baking cake cups, put a spoonful of sponge mix in each, bake. Cover cooled flattish cakes with a spoonful of orange jame/jelly/marmalade. Chill, then pour melted chocolate to cover each cake. I'll have to give this a go and report back!
Yes, the temperatures are swinging widely. For us it was Siberian winter last week, classic warm sunny spring days this week. Sounds like the weather is playing the same games over your side.
Never mind, spring really will be upon us so very quickly, so let's enjoy our last days of thick sweaters and boots!
Hugs, have a nice week, x.

  11. Oh that cocoa looks yummy! The last time I had a cup of cocoa was when we went to see the Christmas Rotary Lights...and it was such a box mix so it wasn't very good.

    1. Yes, you seem to be doing really well with your steady weight loss, the best kind. And that's why you're lithe. And I'm the lardy cocoamallower! Said for effect as I rarely drink the stuff but I had to celebrate the snow in traditional style.
Now, errhmm, the wine ... well, that's another matter ...
      Hugs, x.
