Well, December started out with good intentions. I decided that I would organise outfits to wear for my Christmas outings (all two of them), my family get-together and Christmas Day.
The idea being that December is so busy it would be nice to take the worry of what to wear out of the equation. Great idea. But I didn't do it.
I fell at the first hurdle. My first Christmas dinner (my first of two, I cannot stress that enough!). I arrived at the point where I had an hour to choose then dress in my chosen outfit and I had no idea what to wear!
So I went for absolute safety. My winter white sweater dress, teamed with red for a Christmas twist
Starting with a red necklace and a red, black and tan bangle, both made of wood. Black Gabor knee boots.
A claret pashmina for cose, colour and Christmas.
Check out the earrings, my Christmassy twist.
Maybe I should help you with the checking out. They are cute little black & white penguins with red pompom hats. Black, white and red, all the colours of my outfit. Subtle, but I knew they were there linking the outfit's colours.
I've been pulling these penguins out for Christmas for a fair few years. They make me feel festive, and truth be told, a bit young and frivolous!
It was no surprise that the bag went so well with the pash, I bought them together for an autumn wedding many years ago.
And this was my winter white sweater dress, done Christmassy.
But I just had to add some edge. This biker jacket is getting to be quite a staple in my wardrobe this autumn/winter.
And that was my hurriedly put together white, red and black outfit for my one (of two!) Christmas meals.
A la perchoine.
Great choices. Your penguin earrings sound delightful. I think my Christmas Day outfit will be white shorts, red Christmas tshirt and black sandals. I'll have to search for matching earrings!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Pieta, Wow! What an amazing Christmas Day outfit. I just wish I oould see you in your red and white beach wear with those chosen earrings. I expect your celebratory meal will be something on the Barbie?! Lucky you, think of us here with our cold and wet weather and arthritis!! Hugs, x.
DeleteYes, you certainly know how to wear a sweater dress! There is very little that a moto jacket doesn't go with, I think. I was in Primarni today and spotted they had a couple of sweater dresses on display; I may just go back and check them out...
ReplyDeleteBTW; they don't feel sorry about your TWO festive events; I have only ONE! I had two lat year!
xx
Thanks so much, sweet Vronni, it's about all I've been wearing lately. Hope you found a nice sweater dress or two to take home with you; looking forward to seeing you shine in them on your blog soon.
DeleteOh dear, it's a shame we two can't make up a little Christmas party to dress up for!
Hugs, x.
You make me want to own a biker jacket because to wear it with that dress is just so cool. I went to my first Christmas thing Saturday night. It was a concert/fundraiser for three good causes here in Adrian.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, just as Vronni says above, those biker jackets take just about anything to another level. It would be fun to see how you'd style yours, so I am crossing my fingers that you find one soon. Hope your fundraiser went well.
DeleteHugs, x.
Well, for someone who claims to have fallen at the first hurdle I'd say you are a winner! Your outfit has all the makings of the perfect Christmas outfit. Winter white looks great on you and the pashmina is so rich! Your penguin earrings sound absolutely precious. And then you go and add that piece of Pout that really puts your stamp on this sweet outfit - the moto jacket - perfect amount of edge and keeps this ensemble young and fresh!
ReplyDeleteI always have good intentions of putting together outfits for all the holiday events but the weather here has the last word. Today the high will be in the low 60s (happy heart here) but by the weekend it will be 80 (unhappy face). All my best pieces are for cold weather. Now, I'm going to pout!
Hugs to you my friend, I hope you and TP are enjoying the season!
xoxo,
Kellyann
Oh you are so charming with your comments, Mrs R, and I thank you for making my day, yet again!
DeleteI had a Christmas in Florida some 20 years ago and it was weird to spend Christmas Day on the beach. But I could bear it, just in case TP is reading this and has thoughts about whisking me off somewhere hot for January ... (hopeful face)! Hugs, keep cool and less of the grumpy pouts, sweet lady, enjoy that heat in your shorts, like Pieta above x.
Hello classy festive babe! The white and the red just has the makings of elegance on the finest lady in the land! I'd pout to at 80's! Regardless, you're a stunner my friend!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought of writing fairy stories, Andrea? Because you're making feel like the most beautiful princess in the land !!!
DeleteThanks for being the upbeat spirit that you always are.
Sending you seriously big hugs x.
Well I think you look fab for the first of your Christmas outings. It seems a pity you don't have more to attend if you can look this fab, you defo need more to go to. I hope you enjoyed the festivities. Aren't biker jackets just so fab, there is nothing, literally nothing that they don't go with? I just love mine to pieces and wear it at every opportunity. Love your earrings too. Seasons greetings and good wishes to you and TP. Regards Sue H xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh yes, sweet Susan, I do so need to get out more! TP, take note! And so right about the bikers, they are like a get out of jail free card for each outfit dilemma. Thanks for your lovely wishes; I send good thoughts and love to you and yours, x.
DeleteChristmas dressing done with style! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweetness, Laurie, x.
DeleteI can't do what you did in half an hour. You're a pro Mary. You looked great. Stylish and festive. Love the look and the edgy jacket.
ReplyDeleteFeeling pretty smug, AM, can't lie. But with a biker and a sweater dress in my armoury, what can go wrong?!! Thanks for your kind words, hugs, x.
DeleteWell you know how much I LOVE this sweater dress, so I think it looks perfect for the occasion. Love it with the red scarf.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I'm so pleased I've hit the mark with this dress, I will wear it and think of you! Thanks for being so lovely, hugs, x.
