My Clarins Coffer

Do you have a beauty range that you continue to buy. even in retirement or when money is tight?
Mine is Clarins. I think I must have made that known because look what I received for my birthday recently ...

A 12 Days of Christmas chest filled with Clarins goodies!

I was super excited to receive this as there will be some products in my little red chest that I haven't heard of before, let alone tried.  And I may never have received an advent calendar before either, so #feelingsuperpampered!

I'm not rushing to open my drawers (so to speak!) as I don't want to glut my senses with too much too soon.   I want to try out each product individually so that I can truly gauge the merits of the products.  And of course, it prolongs the excitement of opening these cute drawers so that it all lasts that little bit longer.

So I thought it would be good to update you from time to time on which products I've given a fair run.  Starting with these two.

This product is Eclat Minute.  It's a soft coloured lip balm.  I tend to prefer to wear lip balms most of the time as I feel anything going on my lips should be nourishing them.  And this certainly does.
I suspect this product is going to be a keeper.

I am a little embarrassed telling you about this one - because in doing so I have to fess up.  I don't usually exfoliate my skin.  I didn't think I needed to, but I've been using this product in the morning, about 3-4 times a week, instead of just splashing my face with cold water.  The embarrassing thing is this - I have an area of bumpy skin on my forehead ... and it's reducing as I use this product.  I should have realised that these bumps could be shifted with exfoliation, but instead I shrugged my shoulders and put it down to Aging Lady Syndrome.  I feel that as the bumps keep reducing I will need to continue the process and this product is going to become a keeper too.

So 2/2 so far in terms of product keeperbility.

Opening these little drawers every few days is so exciting.

It's become a little ritual.  I sit down with a coffee and look over my new product.  And with the mornings still being quite dark now in December, I light a candle - oh and maybe I do add a few spicy Christmas biscuits to enhance the pamper experience!
For that is what this little coffer of goodies is ... it's ultimate pampering.
And I am so thankful that I received this lovely gift, a luxurious reward for being another year closer to 70!

A la perchoine.

  1. What a beautiful gift. My daughter gave me a L'Occitane advent calendar last year with 25 mini products. It was so lovely to 'receive' a little gift each day. I didn't do it as well as you though but love the idea of a coffee and spicy biscuits. My favorite product is Avene and I must admit I save the pennies, so to speak, to be able to purchase.

    1. Oh my, Pieta 25 products - you were one lucky lady! You must have been excited each morning. I wonder whether there were any products you continued. What a pure pampering experience!
I haven't tried Avene though hear lots of good things about it. Perhaps if I save my pennies I'll try a moisturiser as Clarins covers my cleansing needs.
      Happy week, hugs, x.

  2. I knew you got this, what a great idea. So is that about three drawers a week? It's funny, but I don't have any brand that I am really true to. I keep trying new stuff but I don't think I've ever had anything in Clarins except and you are not going to believe this-the One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser! I got it last month at a beauty workshop that some of us went to. Do you like it? I haven't used it yet.

    1. Hi Terri, how spooky is that?!
I ration myself with less as I received it mid November and technically the 12 Days finishes in January, but it's giving me time to absorb each product so it's working out well. Yes, I think it works, the difference is noticeable. I use the one step facial cleanser and gentle eye make-up remover to remove makeup at night and on the days when I haven't worn make-up, I tend to use the exfoliating cleanser the following morning. This is working out well, going from a place of zero exfoliation. Please do give it a try, perhaps the way I've introduced it to my skin, and let me know what you think. For me it's helped that I can feel my bumps are reducing.
      Good luck! Hugs, x.

  3. Snap, I've got that same lip balm - you've got some great choices.
I've tagged you on my blog today It's a fun Christmas Tag. Hope you might join in. x

    1. Oh Jacq1ui, isn't that balm nice?! Sorry I've not done my Tag yet. I'm full of good intentions then Christmas gets in the way!!!
      Hugs to you, x.

  4. What a great gift! And your little jokes crack me up. :-) :-)

  5. Ok, I won't comment on the "opening drawers" line since you did clarify that with a "so to speak" good thing because you know your American friend would have been all over that. 'Nuff said.
So how about that Clarins Chest! I am impressed that you are able to practice such self control and indulge yourslef on the daily. Kudos to you my friend for delaying the gratfication and truly enjoying the gift. I'm going to file that away in my mental file cabinet under "things I need to practice - delayed gratfication".
Your morning ritual sounds so soothing and luxurious, perfect for this time of year. In true Pout form you never cease to amaze me my friend!

    1. Yes, sometimes a little fun innuendo falling on the right ears get bring a smile to our busy days, eh.
And my drawers are certainly coming up with some goodies.
You know, I really amaze myself sometimes with my restraint ... I still haven't eaten one single crisp since 1 November, though I did have a few pre-dinner tortilla chips with salsa in the restaurant last weeks, but they don' count.
Wishing you a ho ho ho and a merry week, fun lady x.

  6. I like the idea of spiced biscuits associated with exfoliating. In fact all exfoliators should come with spiced biscuits in my view. I used to use only Clarins. I only stopped as I changed spa. I do exfoliate. Twice a week with glycolic acid. It does help

    1. It's all about yin and yang, eh AM - something virtuous balanced with something rather naughty!
Sounds like you've got this exfoliating malarkey sorted, though please call that exfoliator something else so that I can stop fretting about you putting acid on your face!!
Wishing you a ho ho ho of a week, sweet lady, x.

  7. That was a lovely gift indeed!

My daughter swears by the exfoliating wash...

    1. I'm feeling so pampered every time I dip into my coffer, Vronni. Clever daughter, she's way ahead of the game! I think the wash aspect makes it such an easy process.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas week ahead, my cheery friend, x.

  8. Have I missed your birthday Mary? Belated returns to you! What a lovely gift to receive too. Don't use the exfoliator more than twice a week, you will sensitize your skin! xx

  9. I always have to have something on my lips as well; especially in the winter. I don't use an exfoliate wash but I do have a small exfoliating face loofah I use on my face. Thanks for the review.

    1. Yes, Amy, lip pampering must be even more essential with your colder temps. Brrrr. Hadn't heard of a face loofah, but hen I'm the new kid on the exfoliation block. You have lovely youthful skin.
Wishing you a week filled with mistletoe and pretty velvet bows, cute lady, x.
