Hi darlings, hope you are well.
I've just got back today from my mini 👓👙🌞🚣😇 cruise and am busy sorting out photos and experiences on to my laptop to nourish your blog appetite 😇. So whilst I do, please allow me to nourish, quite simply, your appetite.
Recently, on a very hot Bank Holiday Saturday. we had a very serious blitz of the garden. We worked from breakfast, cutting back, pruning, tearing down just about everything we saw in our pathway. We replaced heavy pot plants in their rightful position after they had been shoved aside for recent scaffolding and house painting manoeuvres (hope I've spelled that right!). Oh, how satisfying it was.
Then we stopped, drank loads of water and perused the garden which had been returned to us after months of building work, renovation and crazy summer growing.
We decided to have something very easy for our early evening meal. We had prawns and bits n bobs of salad left after my recent Twilight Picnic so with the aid of a chilled Sauvignon Blanc I came up with this.
Chilli Garlic Prawns
Normally, I would carefully chop finely some fresh chilli and finely slice a couple of cloves of garlic for this quick and simple dish.
But after a day of hard garden graft I wanted quicker and I wanted even simpler than that.
So I heated some olive oil in a pan, added dried chilli flakes and garlic granules, cooked them over a medium heat (not to burn these delicate miniscule pieces) then tossed in some pre-shelled and cooked king prawns.
You can also add chopped parsley at this stage (but I had none) and a little white wine (but I wanted unctuous ... and my wine in a glass!); a generous squirt of lemon juice when serving is a good alternative, which was my choice.
After warming them through for no more than a couple of minutes, I placed them in a dish, and served this little morsel with said bits of left over picnic salad stuff and slices of the olive bread I'd bought the day before ... for mopping up all that gorgeous unctuousness!
Washed down with a crisp Sauvignon, sitting out in the garden, it was a perfect little meal for we two garden grafters.
We're being busy in the garden at the moment too. For us it's sorting things now we've accepted the house next door is not blowing down.
