I’ve loved this challenge; styling just one colour is simple but it encourages me to hunt around for pieces (some forgotten). And posting the results means I wear makeup each day too.  Quite a good discipline for a retiree!

Oh and add to the mix the fun “behind the scenes” with my clever challenge chums.

Monochrome Magic - Black

Hi peeps, I’m back with more monochrome!

Day 3 of the #monochromaticme challenge was my day for all-black as it seemed the perfect choice  for my first Christmas 🎄 dinner.   Can’t go wrong with black for out-out eh!!

A “rule” of monochrome dressing is that a same-colour outfit needs a mix of textures for definition and delineation and I’ve noted that the darker the colour the more texture mix is required.  And an all-black needs the texture piled on, which is what I did!

So my all-black outfit textures are:

Knitted dress with sequined shoulders, Monsoon, current

Velvet jacket, M&S, ca. 2000

Textured suede chunky heels, Clarks, 2015

And diamonds! @martinandmartinjewellers .

A slightly glitzed black knitted dress seemed the perfect choice for a December dinner.  Comfort, warmth, no fear of waist discomfort after a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, you get the picture eh?!  

Yet the touch of shoulder sequin gives a subtle glitzing that says “oh yes, and it’s Christmas, don’t ya know?”!

And a subtle draping of diamonds are a girl’s best friend at any time of the year!

A hint of diamonds was just the finish this simple outfit needed.

Monochrome Magic - Khaki

.Yesrerday I introduced you to the challenge I’m participating in this week.

Day 2 of the #monochromemagicme challenge saw me sporting khaki. .

I was determined to use this challenge to bring a few things out of the wardrobe that seldom see the light of day in retirement.  So today I gave some corporate wear an airing, which is good.

I pulled a khaki suit apart, using the skirt for the challenge and the rest of the three piece will be seen when I return to polychrome life.  I wore the suit loads BITD, but it still looks like new, which is also good. .

Adding a fine knit jumper and thick cardi casualed up the skirt, to make it wearable for today’s task, nipping to the post office for Christmas 🎄 card stamps #excitedforchristmas .

Monochrome Magic - Berry

Good morning, #monochromemagicme challenge!

For the next five days I will be dressing  monochromatically.  And I think that’s the longest word I’ll ever post on the blog!! 

I’ve joined up with my challenge buddies to get inspo and a bit of chivvying along. .

Monochrome is a style of dressing I love - it requires little deliberation and it creates an unbroken line = a sleeker silhouette. .

For my first day I went to my fave winter colour, berry.  I have so much of this in my wardrobe.  I chose this outfit for comfort as I was taking Bertie to the vet this morning (just routine).

Today’s monochrome berry outfit details

Big neck Sweater/dress, Dotty P, 2017, which I first ruched over a belt but then preferred it as a tunic

Coated jeans, Next, 2016

Boots, M&S, AW18 sale, but carried, as my boot dresser was playing golf - it’s an old lady thing!
