Summerhouse Rescue.
Just before Christmas the summerhouse became a dumping ground for stuff destined for charity and recycling ... I’ll get rid of it all after Christmas I told myself. Out of sight, out of mind until then.
Sound familiar?
The summerhouse detritus included a pair of armchairs bought at the beginning of last year that quite simply were a mistake online purchase. They looked just perfect in the pictures but the reality was that the backs were too high for the intended room and the result was an over cluttered space and a jarring eyeline.
So they had to go.
Anyway, I quickly turned a blind eye to the mess at the end of the garden and moved on. Then the lethargy that is winter ailments took centre stage in “after Christmas“ and we missed our charity/recycling window when we went into lockdown 2.0. late January.
.
And now in late February, with the opening of charity shops still a distant dream, I was facing the spring birdsong evenings without the cosy comfort of the summerhouse because of the charity donations sitting in the summerhouse where I should be sitting!
Bummer.
.
But fear ye not. A few days ago I awoke to the thrill of a spine-tingling eureka moment! I “repurposed” the unwanted armchair squatters and repositioned the bits and bobs, and after a whirlwind clear out and spring clean the summerhouse is now back in business.
.
Think I deserve a spring evening G&T in here, don’t you?
We have been having a clear-out prior to moving... may have overdone it! Big, empty rooms!!!
ReplyDeleteHow good that you’ve cleared out in advance of moving. And you’ve made the house big and spacious too, which buyers love, so it’s a win win for you Jacqui.

Mary, your summerhouse is the perfect place for a G&T; to curl up with a book; to sit and contemplate life...it looks a lovely, calm relaxing space and very coastal in its design. I know you live not far from the sea; and I can imagine looking at your summerhouse that you can see the sea from the windows - even if you can't. I love those armchairs; they look so comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThat was a brilliant Eureka moment!
Take care

No Vronni, I can’t see the sea from these windows, but I can HEAR it as I sit here IF the wind is in the right direction!

It seems to have turned out very well Mary (there I remembered your name for once - lol) I love the colour scheme hun, well done. x Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy!!! It has turned into a very cosy space indeed, a living area extension to the house. Ask hubs to put one up in your garden, then you can use the My Summerhouse Insta location too, Jacqui!!
