Hi my dears, welcome to June!
And a very happy Friday to you too. Do you have much lined up for the weekend? Unusually for me, mine's going to be wall-to-wall lovely things from lunchtime today through to Sunday evening. #feelinggrateful. No doubt there will be a few What To Wear dilemmas along the way but who's complaining about a few rummages in the wardrobe, eh? 😉
Rummaging started on Wednesday.
What to wear for TP's post op appointment?
I've recently been feeling that it was time to get out of the spring jeans. It is summer after all. So today was the day, dressing low-key smart and fresh for the surgeon visit plus a few bits and bobs along the way.
I slipped on a M&Co linen skirt, with Next print cami and linen cardi.
I tend to become mostly inseparable from my Clarks metallic toe flatties through the summer months and today was no exception.
There was no place to hide from the wind which was lashing my hair left, right and centre.
So once in town, I found myself some shelter. A jeweller's shop. TP was inside fixing our watch batteries. I stopped to admire the window display.
The devil makes shopping opportunities for idle eyes. Mine were eyeing the window display.
See what I have in my hand. Yup a jeweller's bag. More on that in another post.
The town was busy with visitors, though not from a cruise liner today as one had popped in earlier in the morning, seen the fog and skidaddled sharpish on to the next port.
We went for a coffee and the view from the café showed that fog still lurked.
But it was still a pleasing view, here seen from my table.
I got my coffee.
But a mini prawn salad appeared in front of me too!
I cannot believe how much salad the serving lady heaped on to my small plate. I must have looked under-nourished 😏. Or just plain hungry.
And what about you readers?
Are you out of spring jeans? Are you in skirts and pretty little dresses?
How about those of you in the southern hemisphere - is it feeling cool enough to wear jumpers and jackets yet?
I leave you with Town on a clearer day ...
and this - I've just found a new edit widget!
Oh, and TP's appointment with the surgeon? He found something new to operate on 😷. No emergency this time but he will need a few days in hospital sometime soon. The two of them can't seem to stay away from each other - bit of a bromance going on there?
A la perchoine.
I'll be interested to see you new piece of jewellery Mary. Looks like a good day out, albeit to see the doctor, but your food looks great too! Jacqui Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteWell, it's a present for someone so I can't show it until after the event! Thanks for popping in Jacqui hugs x.
DeleteI don't suppose you could direct the bromance towards the jeweller could you? Im in jeans or trousers or shorts (at home only). Skirts and dresses are such an everyday wear for work that I tend to avoid them at home. Saying that though I have bought a skirt this week that I am keen to wear socially.
ReplyDeleteOh TP so needs a bromance with a jeweller! Yes retirement turns dressing on its head a bit, but I've been in shorts the whole weekend so are stars are aligned right now! Hugs my sweet twin, x.
DeleteI seriously want to move to your picturesque town - it is lovely! Linen skirts suit you my friend and are perfect on warm weather.
ReplyDeleteOk, seriously TP? Another surgery. What is this man trying to do to us? Ugh. I suppose it will be better scheduled rather than emergency and hopefully will be the end of all of this!
Have a wonderful weekend my love!!!
xo,
Kellyann
And my town seriously wants you here! Thanks for your sweet words. For what it's worth, each new thing is a spin off from the previous surgery and nothing is stand-alone new. I've just worked out that I've taken him in to A&E about 15+ times in the last 3 years so yes, we could do without another emergency!
DeleteHugs my Fabulous Floridian Fifty'er, hope you've had a fantastic birthday weekend! x.
I am with Kellyann. If I were to move away from my wonderful town, which I love, I would want to move to your wonderful town. Hope TP is in and out and on the mend quickly. Have not broken out my skirts yet. Still on the hunt for the best way to make my sparkling white legs look tan. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh thanks, Susan, that's so sweet. Maybe you'll be popping in here on one of your cruises. Yes, I'm hoping this next surgery will be straightforward. Susan, I've used Garnier fake tan for the past few summers, it does the job and it's cheap. Hugs sweetie, x.
DeleteHere on the west coast of Newfoundland, spring has only just really sprung. Dandilions are out as well as daffodils and tulips. But the lateness of our spring only makes us jump for joy more; people are out in 18 deg C temperatures in shorts and t-shirts; and yes, despite my glow-in-the-dark legs, I'm wearing skirts and sandals to work. Hurray!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, our daffs and tulips came and went months ago. Hope you're jumping for joy now. I've been in shorts through this weekend and our temp was only just creeping past 20! Hurray that you've got your legs out, as we say this side of the pond. I've just mentioned Garnier fake tan to Susan above, though you may prefer to keep glowing! Thanks for popping in, hugs x.
DeleteThe cold weather has finally arrived here on the east coast of Oz.It's a bit of a shock after the warmer than normal autumn. Living right on top of a coastal cliff means we get the full force of a coastal gale and a lot more rain. I wish it would rain further inland as much of the country is in drought.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely time to bring out the heavier clothes, Even my bunnies haven't got their thick winter coats on yet.
I love the way your streets have colourful bunting strung across them.
Thanks, Pieta, we have bunting through summer and lights through along Christmas period, so it's usually looking festive in town.
DeleteFunny but I never imagined Australia would be like that in winter, you've taught me something today. So my dear, keep warm and keep dry this week, and wrap those bunnies up in blankets! Hugs, x.
Going to the I.O.W. this Sunday for a week hope the weather is good, taking a skirt with me.!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm sure you've had similar weather to us and I've been in shorts this weekend so I'm sure you're skirt has come in handy. BTW, I've set up a contact form now. Hugs, happy holiday, x
DeleteThe wind was certainly brisk but you looked great for your day in a skirt. No one enjoys going for an op but I am sure everything will go well and TP will be out in no time to enjoy your excellent nursing skills.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy, so sweet of you. Oh yes, TP really does love my nursing skills and I enjoy a chance to get truly bossy! Hugs lovely lady, x.
DeleteSorry to hear about the photographer's woes, Mary.
ReplyDeleteI liked your cool summery outfit with the linen skirt. I find wearing skirts a little bit tricky because of my fat middle but I do try. Sometimes on a hot day a cool cotton maxi is just what you need.
Can't wait to see what's in that jeweller's bag!
xxxx
Thanks, Vronni, the news peeved him somewhat, it's been a sometimes difficult few years for him.
DeleteOh Vronni, middles don't get much fatter than mine yet I do find skirts a comfy alternative in summer so I close my eyes to what the mirror tells me! I'm sure you look tons better than me in skirts so go on, surprise me in your next post!
Psst, my jewellers bag contains a pressie.
Hugs, oh colourful one, x
I also broke out my summer skirts last week Mary - going into June makes me turn a corner! I've collected a few floral Boden skirts from eBay over the years and they're very comfortable to wear with t-shirts when I'm at home. Can't wait to see what's in the jewellery bag, you naughty girl! x
ReplyDeleteWe're in sync, Gail! So right, June makes me panic-open the summer storage. I'm thinking that little Biden print skirts look pretty gorgeous on you, hope you post some soon to give me some new skirt wearing ideas.
DeleteI shouldn't have teased, what's in the bag is for someone else!
Hugs my beauty, x.
what a wonderful harbour you have there, it looks fantastic with the cruise liners outside, it must be brilliant when all the passengers are all milling around and about the Town, you are so lucky to live there.
ReplyDeleteI love getting all the summer wardrobe out! I always find items that have been forgotten too! Your town looks pretty Mary. I would like to have a nose around there!
ReplyDeleteDo send my best wishes to TP but then again I know he has a good nurse to look after him.
Laurie xx
