What I Did in March

Hi my lovelies.
Welcome back.

I can’t believe that it’s time for another what did last
Month posts.  Life has been mainly projects, declutters and walks.  And seems life had been soooo busy I’ve had to spread out to more than one post for the month of March!  Oh joy, I hear you groan.
So grab yourself a cuppa and let’s get cracking with this one.

Seasonal footwear switch

Ok, so this is embarrassing.

My seasonal footwear switch.

Dumped

But I’m pleased to show you my results.

Donated

The bejeweled satin pair were only worn once, for a wedding.

That was project number 1.

On to number 2.

Summerhouse decking and garden smarten-up

Summerhouse and deck desperately need a re-paint.
This area will be spruced up in a few weeks. We’ve engaged a gardening firm to do several outdoor jobs that we can no longer tackle, like this one.  We’ve got to that age where we just can’t bend and lift to do these jobs any more.
Are you finding that too?

The firm has made a start on tidying up the overgrown garden.   I’ll write up a post on this and the summerhouse revamp soon, when the jobs are fully completed and spring colour kicks in proper.

Meantime, we carried on with the spring tidy-ups we can still tackle.

I ate jacket potatoes!

I made a big tub of coleslaw to dip into.  Which I did!  Here I served it with a jacket and coronation chicken (my recipe HERE)
Much needed after a hard days graft in the garden.

I then had another coro chicken jacket just days later at a nearby charity garden initiative cafe. Turns out Coro JPs are like buses!

I walked

Rousse

We enjoyed lovely beach and headland walks.

I researched

We researched colours for the summerhouse.

I walked some more

Loft clearance, and a surprise bonus

Project number 3

The bonus - we discovered another loft!

We got started on a massive loft clearance/organize, something that I’ve had on my list for 4-5years!
It’s been uplifting to pass on items no longer needed, like old games.  And a millennium box, bought in 1999 with good intentions to fill it with turn of the millennium memorabilia.  It was empty (insert very embarrassed face emoji!),

In clearing out the main loft we found a smaller lift, totally empty.  It’s now on the project list to have it floored and laddered.

We still have some work to do but garden and house projects muscled in and shoved this loft project on back burner.

My ducks are back!

My ducks returned and have been with me for about 6 weeks.  They’re so tame and bang their beaks on the glass into door if I’m not up early for their breakfast!
They’re my old favourites (I tell them so!)
and have been visiting at this time of year for quite a few years.
I photographed them so that I could distinguish them from other freeloaders!
One distressing thing is how the ladies are “visited” by rogue drakes, even whilst their husbands are alongside.  At the first alert of a fracas, I run out screening like a fish wife and shoo them off the premises in no uncertain terms.  That’s not happening on my patch!

Yet another project - a new patio

Project number 4

So I have projects coming out of my ears.
We’re biting the bullet and having this very old patio replaced.  By the gardening firm of course, my days of slab lifting are long gone.

The patio will extend up to the lawn and the wall on the right.

You want more projects?

Well you’ve come to the right place because here’s project number FIVE!

Yup.  Chez Pout has yet another project brewing.  We’re just plain greedy!
We’re having the back conservatory roof replaced.  Here’s TP up a the ladder checking things out in readiness.

And you want more beach walks?

So we have to allow ourselves to break off from projects now and then.

Uplifting beach walks allow me to decompress for a short while.

Senile warts - TMI?

You want senile warts too?
I had some of my senile warts removed during March.  Painfree procedure.
You really wanted to know that eh!

So let’s return to more beach days walks - quick!

The month was sunny but mostly chilly.  On this day TP wore a thick down puffa and buaonet (hat).  I was kitted out in similar gear.  But fortunately as the month tailed off, so did our need for winter gear.

I hosted a birthday lunch

Another walk - but not coastal!

Or maybe you do want more coastal shots … ?!

And more duck comparison pics?!

You guys are insatiable!

The guy on the bottom was a “freeloader” but I’ve now got quite fond of him and his wife now.

And finally, I went to a teenager’s party

And rounding off in true Fred Quimby style -
that’s all, folks!

    1. Oh Trish my every day has revolved around those ducks!
Yes I’ll do some update posts on the garden. I created a little morning coffee area today which I was pleased with.
Good luck with your garden refurb, wish I could see photos.

  2. Those seascapes are just so wonderful. How I envy you having them on your doorstep. I live surrounded by mountains and lakes. Your garden projects look so exciting although I think your garden looks great anyway. Just needs a bit of warmer weather to bring the plants along and a bit of a spruce up and it will look magnificent. Those pink satin shoes look fabulous but understand why you have moved them on.

    1. Hi Christy, your location sounds idyllic and absolutely beautiful. Yes we’ll get there with the garden but I must keep with the programme and not allow slippage and apathy to slip in!
And I was forced to buy those shoes half size too small, and I certainly felt it!

  3. Crikey...you two don't stand still for long! Your shoe collection is like mine. I have two cupboards full of them but only seem to wear three pairs on rotation 🙄

    1. Awww thanks Trish! we have quite a huge collection of Portmeirion collected over the years. I’m going to check out our Marks for cabbage ware, but our homeware section is quite small so 🤞.
