Christmas Overload

Helloooo!!

How’s it going, my jingle belled lovelies?
I’m pretty sure you’re so otherwise occupied that you haven’t noticed that I’ve been seasonably AWOL this past week.  And that is good because it makes me feel a little better knowing that despite slowly drowning in tinsel and turkey dinners, my absence has gone largely unnoticed as you too busy yourself with all things seasonal.

But it really is a busy time eh?  I am now at that stage of the season when I have to do lists for my to do lists to oversee the whole, er, "slick" operation.
These last few days in the lead up to The Big Day can feel a bit overwhelming, and I do struggle a little with Christmas Overload.
The "have I remembered everything?" cold sweat panic at 3 a.m.!! You too?  Or are you super-organised? Perhaps you have a laid-back, "whatever" approach ?

But right now I’m on my coffee break so I thought I’d just put index finger to tiny phone keyboard ⌨️ to say ho-ho-hi and share a festive outfit with you.

Cosy jumper and jeans, yule-ified.

Classic red, black and white, matchy-matchied right down to my little glittery penguin earrings!

Is there such a thing as Christmas overload?

The day was cold and I added a snuggly-seasonal blanket scarf.
Is this what Christmas overload looks like?

To be honest, I’m still finding styling blanket scarves a struggle, just as I did last winter.  What  to do with them?
There's the  granny-bib tie at the back style, or the granny-shawl tie at the front style.  And that's it.
I see the blanket scarf as grannycentric.  This is my second  winter with this one and my view and my tieing of them is unchanged.

Though between you and me, the granny-bib style is pretty clever at hiding my granny dribbled turkey dinners 😊.
So I do thank whoever is in charge of fashion fads (China?) for coming up with this essential granny go-to in my wardrobe.  I'm now totally getting the bibbed-up blanket scarf!

Moving on from blankets and bibs, here's a 30 second round up of what I've been up to lately.  Those of a dieting disposition would be wise to steer clear of the "play" button though, as this clip contains festive food!

Does this look pretty much like how your week has panned out?

A la perchoine,
Mary 🎄 X.

  1. My OH is on his third Christmas meal. I've had one with my walking group. You seem to be matching OH in the Christmas dinner stakes!

I only have the food shopping left to do on Friday then I can start enjoying myself. I do wake up wondering if I've forgotten anything. The first year I lived in this house I forgot to buy potatoes!

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, Mary.

    1. Poor you forgetting the roasties! So impressed that you're pretty much there on the preps, I'm knee deep in wrapping paper at the moment!
Yes, there's so much to think of and it is at the end of the day just a roast with family and some presents. I've over decorated - we're looking like Blackpool illuminations indoors!
Merry Christmas to you and your OH, have a cosy one my friend, x.

    1. Thanks for the twofer! As you know I want to start video experimenting. I have new lighting and the GD taught me how to use the phone movies app this week so I've bombarded my family with trailers of nativities and garden centre Christmasness! I can only dream of aspiring to your great heights, you're so good at movies!
Hugs and have a Merry one, x.

  5. Loved the You tube video! I feel so much better after reading your blog about the blanket scarves I have sent to the charity shop - I couldn't do anything with them that didnt enter frumpy territory! I love scarves but find it very hard to avoid the 'frump' look. Yes we all get overly stressed this time of the year and I really wish that all those celebration meals I have enjoyed over the last two weeks could be spread out over the next few dark months, wouldnt it make winter a little more palatable? Love reading your musings Mary, Happy Christmasx

  7. I feel quite left out on turkey dinners this year! I was invited to a works reunion Christmas Dinner but couldn't go on the chosen date. Then we had a reunion with 'Rambles with Rosie' but chose to go Indian. It looks like the only Christmas Dinner I will enjoy is to be the 25th.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Love - Jill x

  8. Still waiting for a turkey dinner! Gosh, just one this year - on Christmas Day! (Mine!). You can never have too much Christmas overload in my view Mary. It is but once a year. I have terrible trouble with scarves so blanket coats would be beyond me. My Christmas is more or less organised now - all I need is another sortie to M&S tomorrow for food bits, which I will do as soon as the blighters open. Have a great Christmas Mary and thanks for supporting my little link up!

  9. I think today I will call you Merry Mary! You are the sexiest little Santa's helper! Your video is super and those meals are just divine and so elegant. And look at that dapper TP! Stunning couple.
Ok, I don't wear blanket scarves. I cut mine in half but it still feels bulky and with my big chest I feel as though I am wearing a life vest! Ha! I love and admire them on others but not on me.
I wish you all the very best the season has to offer my sweet sista and I hope we get to share a drink and a meal in 2019!!!

Oh the lifeboat comment, so funny but so true, no surprise they called them Mae Wests (maybe that was just over here?).
Hope your Christmas day with dad and the family was special.
Looking forward to that meal in 2019!
      Happy Boxing Day, x.

  12. Wishing you the best for the season. I figure you can only do what you can do and not worry about the rest. Our shopping is almost done.We are just going to pick up some stocking stuffers tomorrow.
What I'm making as far as food is planned and am pretty sure the girls know what they are doing.

I guess I don't know to much about this blanket scarf thing. I don't think I have one and sure don't know how to wear the thing.

    Again, Merry Christmas

    Terri xoxo

P.S. I'm doing Brisket for Christmas and we had Cornish Hens for Thanksgiving so no turkey for us either.

  15. Going to check out your video Mary! I feel exhausted after my trip- it takes me about a week to recover from a trip, and this is no exception! Love your festive attire, we all had on our "ugly sweaters" for the day. I had to laugh at the blanket scarf thing, as i have one I am dying to wear, but I am not great at styling them either!
    Happy Holidays

I'm hoping you've worked out What to do with your blanket scarf because I need help!
