So what's been happening with me lately?
Plantar fasciitis, that's what. Heel and arch pain. It hurts. Avoid it.
I've worked out how I think I could have avoided it.
By not racing up hills during the literary festival here
And by not wearing these flat-foot loafers whilst racing.
But enough post-pain analysis.
On to the OOTD. After swamping my little head with gingham and stripe, florals and birds, here , this little A-line pocketed affair popped into my Next trolley. Serviceable, as my mum would have described it. However, I'm having difficulty finding tops for this navy print skirt. Worn here with a Next navy jersey top.
Next styles it with white.
I went for safety when choosing the navy print option.
This print is so pretty and with a little more colour option. But it felt like a wild card. So I played it safe.
On another day and again I wore the skirt with navy.
Turns out going for safety is a bit samey.
Navy camisole and linen mix cardi, both from Next last year.
So, Next styles it with white. I team it with navy. Repeatedly.
That's the limit of our imaginations.
How would you style I? Can you see possibilities beyond mine and Next's limited collective imaginations?!
So, stuck in my navy groove, I added my boxy GAP denim jacket and took the outfit down to the beach for a post-prandial evening stroll.
Grandes Rocques and Cobo bays. Beyond the bays, Cobo village.
It was still light when we arrived. A few people strolled, stretching their legs like us. A few families were packing up their beach-bbq paraphernalia. It had been a glorious day.
The sun soon dipped below the horizon.
The departing sun left its pink glow calling card.
Then it was dusk.
I look at my best at dusk!
A la perchoine.
What a pretty skirt! It looks swell with navy but what about that grey shrug/sweater you have coming? Over a white tee?
ReplyDeleteThe style that the vendor shows looks good, perhaps a plain sleeve for some of us.
A grey-ish tee would make that 'column of color' we're all striving for to wear under the pretty navy linen cardi but coordinating greys and blues is so difficult.
The views of the bay are stunning!
Hey Jean, that's a good idea. The crop cardi hasn't arrived yet but I have a grey cami I can wear it over, so thanks for your suggestion in advance.
DeleteGlad you liked the views, the sun went down very quickly!
Yes very pretty skirt, my husband has plantar fasciitis too he says it is painful, especially in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the skirt. It's surprising how many I've heard of who've suffered. I actually screamed with the pain, sounds like your hubby has a higher pain threshold! I was in a voltorol and paracetemol haze but mine's cleared apart from twinges, though it sounds like poor hubby's is more ongoing. The good thing was I was getting up at 4 a.m. so my days had early starts.
DeleteThat's awful with your feet. I hope you can see a light at the end of the tunnel on that. Boring I know, but I actually like the navy and white combo whether a navy top or white. Always looks fresh and a good antithesis to lots of colour some days.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, it's a welcome break from colourful, not that I do colour too often! Jean's suggested playing around with grey, which still keeps it in the antithesis range by denying the skirt colour but maybe will allow me to feel I've sneaked out of the navy groove now and again! Thanks for popping in.
DeleteI like all these looks! Well, can't really see the jacket, but I'm sure it was adorable. ;-) Hope your foot feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Susan and thanks for popping in.
DeleteThe denim jacket is stiff so makes me look like I have a box on my top half. Its resolve to make me box-like doesn't weaken with washing - I gave it a good dousing a week or two ago and as always, it's still holding up. It's held up for about 15-20 years. GAP should move into housebuilding with this stuff!
I know what you mean! I keep buying denim jackets and giving them away after a few wearings, because I just can't seem to find one that is not boxy. Somehow in the store, they call to me, "I am the one", but they never are. :-)
DeleteMay I suggest that if a semi fitted denim shirt/shacket calls Susan, follow its call, it will be The One!
DeleteI always like navy and white - but with pops of bright - big red beads, red shoes, lime green and navy looks good too, orange, fuschis pink....
ReplyDeleteOh I am loving how you guys come up with so much more than me and Next ever could! Steph, I'm getting so revved up with the idea of those brights. Now I'm actually looking forward to wearing that little skirt again. Thanks so much for popping in.
DeletePink, coralight. Perhaps your yellow cardi. It's fairly neutral so I think there's many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, pink sounds a good idea and I guess coralight is Pantone for coral, that would look great too. Spooky you mentioned my yellow cardi. I'm wearing my yellow floral dress today, yellow cardi nowhere to be found so I took the Greenery cardi, but I was too hot for any form of armwear - what a glorious day!
DeleteYou have such a fabulous sense of humor. I don't have any foot pain, but I am in the process of weeding out uncomfortable shoes and replacing them with only comfortable ones. Just that time of life for me where comfort is more important. LOVE your outfit. Black and white skirt combos are a fav of mine.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks so much Amy.
DeleteI like to write as the person I am so there has to be some humour.
Agreed that footwear becomes so important as we appreciate and, indeed, need our comforts as we age. I've never been one for budget footwear; occasionally I have a blip, choosing style over substance. But only occasionally .
This is a very pretty navy skirt and I do think it looks good with the additional navy as you have styled it. I think it would also look great with a white tee and pink cardigan or jacket. Other colors I would style it with are coral, yellow, tan, grey, and orange. And, of course, red because red, white, and blue. :) Thanks so much for linking up with Fabulous Friday! Also, I am currently looking for co-hosts, so I hope you will consider the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOh my, so much to work on! Thanks for your fab ideas, readers have been so generous with styling tips I can't wait for next week's hot weather so that I can try some of these combos!
DeleteOh, thanks for the invite! What does it entail? Hugs.
