Hello my lovelies!
And here we are, already into the second week of the new year. Christmas has been despatched to the garden (tree) and loft (decorations) and I've taken things easy after the busy months of November (our birthdays) and December (Jesús' birthday).
I've finally found the time to fire up the old laptop and catch up with you guys. I hope your December was a lovely month of cosiness, get togethers and joy.
So I give you a quick recap of what I've been wearing lately, then I will get to work on the 12+ drafts I'm working on for future blogs. Thanks for your continued support of my blog, I've been fairly quiet on it over the holidays and I guess you wouldn't have had the time or the inclination to read lots of my blogs anyway, so I think it's worked out well for both of us, eh?!
This is the V neck version of the cashmere mix cosy jumpers from Next. I've worn both this and the funnel neck version sooo much over Christmas.
I enjoyed relaxed drinks with neighbours (#1) in a cashmere asymmetric jumper and berry coated leggings.
More relading on a day doing goodness knows what in the same leggings and a black jumper.
This seems ages ago now. My poor photobomber was not feeling well, wasn't eating and was half his former self. A couple of shots from the vet and he's now eating like a proverbial pig, is back to his normal self and will soon be out partying to celebrate this 19th birthday!
This pearl sweater from Zara has become an instant posh-up and was perfect for a Christmas lunch with my golfing buddies. Here I teamed it with coated bikers and called it my posh edgy look. The coated bikers went down well as the guys think the jeans are leather and we all know what that does to a bloke eh ladies?!!
Think this must have been another lunch (there were many*), wearing an ivory blouse under a cashmere cardi. And if you find yourself looking at black jeans a lot on this page, it is because these skinnes from M&S are absolutely delightful to wear and are like a second skin. I apologise now for the repetition.
* with all the lunches and mince pie eating I was afraid to step on the scales. However, I had my quarterly medical check up, my doc stood me on the scales and I'm pleased to report I've stayed stable over the party months!
I managed to ditch the black jeans and wore a sweater dress for a carol service in our town church.
My Christmas day outfit was a richly printed pussy bow blouse from Zara, with berry coated leggings. Uber comfy for playing games and scrambling round on the floor looking at toys and fooling with the family dog.
Boxing day was kept simple with a black jersey and chiffon top and yes, the black jeans were back in service. However, to break up the black I accessorised with an elf leg. As you do.
I am spoiled. Last year I received the cute leoprint bag which holds my essentials of phone, purse, a hankie or two and a lip balm. This year I have been spoiled again with a beautiful black leather/suede tote to carry the rest of the paraphernalia, like notepad, hat, scarf and mitts and all the other stuff that's been secreted in coat pockets. It's going to be nice having the choice of light load or heavier for whatever the occasion brings.
For a walk on the beach I pulled out a little leather and fur beanie hat which I bought in New Zealand 18 years ago - it's got a quilted lining and keeps my head beautifully warm.
Hey, see what it says on the pinni? Sprout Pout!!! What a great Christmas pressie and one which I pulled out for my family party cooking. I wore the Boxing day outfit again, so comfy for a party.
And here I decided to wear a skirt for coffee with my golfing boys. I thought a ladylike skirt would please them. They asked for me to wear the leather again next time!
Drinks with neighbours #2. I wore a Primark boho top.
And here's one I prepared earier! You can actually see the blouse in this pic.
Realising skirts needed to come back into my life I wore a leoprint one with black top and cardi. Fortunately I wasn't meeting the golfing guys!
This is such a cosy look. A cashmere merino button neck jumper with all the woolly trimmings. And the black skinnies.
So that's circled wagons on what I've been wearing lately. I'm guessing you may have been donning things pretty similar to mine, but if not, perhaps I've provided a little bit of inspo for what to go out of the house wearing in the colder weeks to come. I hope so.
And now I'm going to circle some more wagons on all those drafts I've been putting together over these busy holiday weeks when there's been time for the odd jot down but not enough to take nice photos or get truly stuck into the editorial. But I'm not going to beat myself up about that - I've had my post-Christmas relax and I'm ready to report back for duty!
See you very soon,
a la perchoine

Happy New Year Mary. These outfits are all fabulous. Very stylish. May I ask about your hair? I really like the dark underneath and the lighter on top - is this natural or do you have it done like this? My hair is silver white with some dark brown still in the underneath, however I colour it brown - Looking how fabulous yours looks makes me think... Lise
ReplyDeleteAnd the same to you, Lise, hope you had a lovely time in Bulgaria.
DeleteThank you for your sweet words, and your interest in my hair! I stopped colouring it in 2007 when my roots turned grey and I didn't like that. What's transpired is a curtain of grey at the front and a thin later on top, and the rest is dark. It's pretty much stable and I have learned to live with my skunk look! It's very much a personal thing but I'm pleased I don't have to faff with colour treatments. Silver white sounds really pretty. I hope you let me know what you decide! Hugs, x.
I'm interested in the M&S jeans Mary. I bought some cream boyfriend style from there and have been pleased with those. I like the wine colour mixed with the black too. What an age for a cat? Well looked after of course! xx
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I had to force myself not to wear my new Marks distressed jeans today, so comfy. So what am I wearing instead, yup, those black skinnies!
DeleteYes, Bertie's been plagued by health problems most of his life, so he's high maintenance. And he's draped over my thigh as I type right now, bless him, he craves contact these days.
Hugs my dear, x.
I love your 'What I wore' posts! I find them very inspiring. Love the 'sprout pout' apron, what fun!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, this is good feedback to receive because it's a newish format for me and I did wonder. I do love seeing others' daily wear as I too find it more inspiring than outfits staged for selling as I'm a shop-the-wardrobe sorta gal.
DeleteThanks for popping in, always good to meet up with you, x.
Hi PP, Belated best wishes for 2019, for you, the photographer and Bertie of course! You're looking fab as always and, I agree with Lise, your hair looks fabulous and the 'skunk look', as you call it, makes it extra special. Wish mine would hurry up and go grey like yours!! My favourite in this blog is definitely the very stylish maroon/grey skirt and cardi outfit. Coming a close second is the cosy creme woollen sweather with various shawls and scarves. Hurry up real winter weather; bring some snow so that hats and big scarves come into their own.
ReplyDeleteHi Dutchie, and best wishes to you too, hope the holiday was amazing. Thanks for the hair compliment sweetie but don't wish your hair colour away, enjoy it whilst it's there. And thanks for your "votes" and you know, despite no snow, I'm finding the whole woolly hat set so necessary when I'm out walking, must be getting old as I'm feeling the cold more. Let us know when you get your first snowfall in Holland eh.
DeleteHugs my sweet, x.
19? He looks like a Persian cat. We have two Mainecoons. I love them. Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, yes Bertie's an old Persian. I love Mainecoons, they are the kings of the feline world, I almost bought one years ago. I like that your beauties are happy to be dressed up!
DeleteHappy weekend, x.
Your outfits are all on point my stylish sista! You may have been quiet on the blog but you have been killin' it on Insta!!!
ReplyDeletexo,
Kellyann
Awww thanks, sista, and yes, I'm having a ball in Insta! It's an quick fix connection with fast feedback.
DeleteHope you have a smashing weekend, hugs x.
Happy New year, Mary!
ReplyDeleteSome lovely outfits and you look so cosy and chic in all of them. What a lot of cashmere tops you have!I have two jumpers in cashmere (both chazza finds) and I've yet to wear either of them this year.
What a gorgeous tote bag! I have to have a big bag to cart all my stuff around and totes are perfect for this. Your apron made me smile!
That is a humongous cat! Glad he's better now.
Hope 2019 brings you peace and joy!
xxxxx
Aww thanks Vronni and yes I do seem to have accumulated a lot of cashmere and I've declared this Jumper January cos I'm struggling to wear anything but jumpers at the moment, even a cardi feels too open and chilly.
DeleteI'm excited to join you in Tote World but I'm hoping I'm restrained and I won't find the kitchen sink in mine!
Hugs and cost weekend wishes, x.
You look amzing. great styling
ReplyDeleteThe Glossychic
Wonder Cottage
Hi Glossychic and thanks for your sweet words, x.
DeleteThose cashmere sweaters are so beautiful and I love when you wear scarves. You really look so cute in them. Would you believe I don't wear cashmere? It itches me...what on Earth. Welcome back to blogland. Happy weekend! XO
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, Lisa, and I have a lot of scarves to get through this winter, though I have only bought the pink pompom one this season. Restrained huh?! So sorry for you that cashmere makes you itch as it's a beautifully soft and warm knit, the culprit must be the natural oil in it.
DeleteHey girl, have a cosy weekend with your lovely Kent, x.
What a feast of outfits from the Pout. I believe I have the same Zara pearl jumper, but in black! I like the cream version. The elf leg must surely be the must-have accessory for Christmas. I'm so glad the photo bomber is on the mend. Mine (aged 15) was a little peaky this week but is now back to normal. Phew. Now you must get back to those 12 posts.....Thanks for supporting #WowOnWednesday!
ReplyDeleteThat black pearl jumper must be Wowzers!
DeleteGlad your kitty is in the mend, they get those peaky periods as they age.
#1 posted, my homage to Helen, just another 11 to go, #feelingtgepressure!
Hugs, have a good week, x.
When you first started talking of the photobomber and vet i thought you meant David, until I got as far as 19, haha. My favs are the Zara pieces. Love the blouse and the pearl sweater, which I recollect seeing in RL and knew you'd get lots of use from.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.muttonstyle.com
Oh so funny about the photobomber, half David's former self would have alarmed you!
DeleteYes you have seen that jumper IRL at one of our dates, I reserve it for truly special occasions.
Hugs twin, have a good one, x.
You are looking fabulous in all your outfits. Primark can be brilliant for bargain finds.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jill. Yes, some great things can be hunted down at Primark, and that boho blouse has been a winning wardrobe wowzer.
DeleteHugs, have a great week, x.
