Hi peeps, I'm back home and have a miniscule of a window before my next trip to unpack, launder, repack and of course download my many holiday snaps. My life is pure rock n roll this month.
So here's a little morsel to buy me time to wrap some words around the snaps.
I've become a bit obsessed with trying clothing three ways. I recently showed you my biker jacket with skirt and grey jeans here. I want more from this little jacket, so as I was getting ready for the airport recently, I tried on a few outfits. Yes really! As we were due to leave in 30 minutes, you can just imagine how enthused The Photographer was by this idea. But hey, living with a blogger really is rock n roll, living on the edge stuff!
I was keen to take a few moments out of my comfort zone to get the feel for ankle boots, no tightage and a skirt.
It felt cheeky!
It did feel rock n roll.
Biker chic or biker chick? I think perhaps neither!
I told The Photographer that this was my travel outfit. He believed me and I think he was quite flattered that I was making some effort as we were going out for our anniversary meal as soon as we checked in to the hotel at the other end of our journey.
Sorry to disappoint, TP, but that rock n roll I ain't. I need some serious prior training with an outfit this outside of my comfort zone.
Can you try on something this unusual then leave the house without a second thought? I can't. I need time. I need lots of mirror work. I need to walk around the house in the risque outfit, move, sit down. And probably a Mindfulness or NLP session before wearing this outfit outside the house wouldn't go amiss too!
Then I switched to jeans.
Yes, I tested the poor blighter to his absolute limit with not just one but TWO frivolous, pre-airport outfits!
And I wonder why sometimes he looks a little piqued!
Yes, you can see these outfits were a bit of rushed fun but I think they would work. I would like to give them another go when I have more time to titivate. I think the skirt and biker look definitely has legs!
What have you tested your limits with lately? And what have you tested your better half's limits with lately, ladies?!!
And I leave you with this little trailer holiday snap ...

A la perchoine.
Yes, to skirt and biker jacket with ankle boots! I wear this look (with tights) in the autumn and winter and I don't care what people think!

Great attitude, Vronni. I like to wander round the house a bit with something new or something I haven't put together before, so that I forget what I'm wearing when I'm out. Then the focus is on enjoying myself!
DeleteHappy weekend. Hugs, x.
Love it with the Jeans. I'm just on the hunt for a Biker, but Black doesn't suit me. And you always look CHIC mary xx

You say the nicest things, Laurie! Thank you. I'm sure that some brands must be playing around with biker colours now, hope you're lucky. Though I remember you wearing a black t shirt with jeans some months ago and you looked fantastic in black!
DeleteHappy weekend. Hugs, x
I am perhaps the only woman in western civilization who does not like ankle boots with dresses/skirts. I think they break up the line of the body from top to bottom. I thought you looked really good in the jeans and jacket, though. JMHO.
ReplyDeleteHow have I irritated the good husband lately? Well, when it looked like there was too much purchased for our carry on suitcases on the recent trip to Hawaii, husband said "start layering clothes on your body, we have to get this stuff home." I had visions of my barely squeezing through the airplane door.
Hi Anne, well the skirt and ankle boots thing is new to me but I do like it on others. And I appreciate YHOs so keep're coming!
DeleteOh I love your irritating husband story (IHS), just how many of his t shirts was he suggesting you wear? And in a hot country!!!
Thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend. Hugs, x.
The jacket is very nice, and as I like it is with jeans. I think it looks a nice look on you.
ReplyDeleteHi J-M, thank you so much, kind gentleman. I lucky to get the photos!
DeleteWishing you a happy weekend, x
The skirt and ankleboots is so youngyfying without being too lamb. Fabulous. I need to learn from you as I try at the last minute then have to change just as we go out the door as I take my pic. I can see in the pic disasters that mirror mirror on the wall is to shy to tell me.
ReplyDeleteLike it AM, youngyfying and easy on the lamb! It's a fine line getting that right. I've packed the skirt to give skirt and anklies another go.
DeleteI've had to learn a whole new level of bossiness to get out the door shots but my mirror's a sycophant and is NEVER honest with me either - the camera never lies.
Hugs, x.
You crack me up but I have done the same thing to my poor husband. He's headed out the door and I'm all up in his business begging him to snap a few pictures! Oh, these poor men.
ReplyDeleteNow back to your outfit. I love the biker chic look - you are in fact Rock n Roll my friend! I LOVE the jacket with the skirt, I'll bet the mister was a little excited to think you were wearing that outfit to travel in!!! Hottie!
Well, jet setter I am anxious to hear about your next trip. Keep pushing the limits with your fashion, you look terrific my friend!
xo,
Kellyann
Our men are brave little soldiers indeed.
DeleteFollowing one reader's comment, he may have thought he was going to travel with hottie Suzi Quattro! I do a mean tabletop Can the Can intro so I could have pulled it off!
And, my zany friend, I'm typing this on a train heading for my next adventure.
Hugs and bon weekend, x.
I love your zest for experimenting Mary. I experiment sometimes for the blog and so far there's only been 1 outfit I wouldn't be able to wear "in normal life."
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, Gail. I get excited about new recipes to try and get bored sometimes when I find myself making "everyday" meals. Maybe I'm the same with clothes.
DeleteGiving myself a "clothes recipe" works when venturing down a new OOTD avenue. Now, I'm intrigued to know which of your outfits didn't make the grade! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, hugs, x.
I think you did really well with this speed try out of your outfits Mary. The skirt and ankle boots worked beautifully as did the jeans combo with the jacket. I approve of mixing things up, suprising yourself at how you look and just generally pushing your comfort zone every now and then.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how that holiday went...
Anna x
Aw thanks, Anna, I'm finding that dressing is like cooking. I get bored cooking same old same old but a new recipe sparks up my enthusiasm for getting back in the kitchen.
DeleteMix it up a bit, eh. Like our friend Stephen Bishop says, " ... toss up the cards and see where they land". Or was that James Taylor ? 😉😱!!!
Hope you enjoyed my holiday snaps. I met an amazing lady on holiday!
Hugs, x.
Well, I will never say no to a black leather jacket-now probably not really a biker one. My Dad rode motorcycles and my sister Donna got his biker jacket when he passed on.
ReplyDeleteNow, I have a story. When Michael asked me to marry him, I said I would but only when he bought a car. You see, he only had a motorcycle and spent all of our dating life, including the WINTER, on a little Honda. He did get a pretty ugly car, but that was good enough and we got married. There's my motorcycle story.
What lovely poignant memories and a great story of your dating life! Thanks for sharing, Terri, and you've just given me inspo for a future post end, so big thanks for send-ing. Hugs, x.
