I'm wearing Talbots!

Happy 4th to all my super American readers.

Have an amazing day!

Ladies, there us no calm way to say this ...
I am wearing T A L B O T S !!!

Ever since I began blogging I have been reading of my American friends popping into Talbots and coming out with lovely pieces of clothing.  So when recently I was a-rummaging in my fave charity shop I got incredibly excited when I spotted a top with a Talbots label.  Well, I grabbed it.  I didn't care what its US size was IRL, whether it suited me, whether it was fashionable (and it probably isn't).  I just didn't care.  I wanted that label and I was ready to blow my £3 pocket money on a Talbots top and that was that.  End of.  Fin de.

Well, luck was on my side.  It fitted!

And it's pretty perfect for a hot summer's day (of which we have had so many - insert big beaming smile of contentment).

It's gently loose (read baggy!) and has a cascade of frills down the front and the fabric is a pale green/pink paisley.  I like paisley.  And I have been a fan of green and pink together after a love at first sight moment.
I can remember when and where my heart fluttered.  1968.  An office toilet.  Pink loo paper alongside green curtain.  Those colours look so nice together, thought the younger version of The Pout.  I'll store that image for future use.
Future use, as nicking the office curtain and strutting along the high street wearing it draped over one shoulder and accessorised with pink toilet roll was not an option, even in the wild and crazy 60s.

So a pretty long story to explain why I was drawn to the top in the first place.  But it is what it is and I am what I am, eh peeps.

And I can now sleep at night, knowing that something from the US brand Talbots is hanging in my wardrobe, and on summer's days, hanging on me.

And here is said tag, as if there were any doubt whatsoever that I would be fibbing about such an important thing.

A la perchoine.

Thanks, it's already working well with chinos too.
One Amazeball has arrive, 6 are driving down from London as I type, and the other seven we'll meet up with down in Devon. This is my jam! I'm gonna take a pic of my bunting and post it. Super-excited!
      Have a special day, x.

    1. I mooch around one particular chazzza,(see, I'm picking up the lingo from you!). I also picked up a pair of red peeptoe espadrilles that trip too that I'd had my eye on since last summer, I was surprised they were still there. Wishing you a sunny weekend of resting, hope all is starting to get better again. Hugs, x.

  3. That's so funny because the only Talbot's that I have are from charity shops too. After reading your post, I did go find out if Talbot's had a store around the KC area. They do, on the Kansas side. I'm over in that part of Kansas a bit (huge retail area and where all the money is).

And about paisley, I also love it and still have a paisley scarf from 1968. I just got a vintage sari in the mail from India today, with what else, paisley! Take care my friend. Terri xox

    1. Maybe I read too many American blogs! What fun that you thought of me when you flew over. But you won't have seen me 'cos I'm in Devon!
Hope you had an amazing time, hugs x.

  5. Like my excitement over J Crew. Yes, i would do the same Mary and in my case darn whether it fitted or suited me. If it was from over the Atlantic then its mine. I guess you understand why I walked so far to find mighty Loft a few years ago, only to find it was a coffee shop. Still another story.

    1. Oh yes Anna, I now totally get your J Crew and Loft obsessions, our American blogger friends are passionate about them too. I did feel for you when you tramped for hours in baking Canarian heat to arrive at Loft, the cafe! Hugs, x.

  6. Lucky you! What a great find. I love Talbots, but they are expensive. I own one sweater from Talbots, which I purchased on the clearance rack at the end of summer. It's a classic though! It will stay in my closet forever.
