Hi my dear people, hope you are well.
I mentioned in my previous post that the weather was glorious over our bank holiday.
On Sunday I joined The Sibs at a open air gig just a short stroll from where I live.
I'm here. Can you spot me? Here's a clue, I'm wearing this hat ...
My outfit was v. simple, for the day was HOT. White shorts, navy longline vest, silver oak leaf pendant, hat.
There are about half a dozen Sunday gigs on this balcony during the summer. They are free, I can take a leisurely walk to the venue and the sun is always shining. What's not to love?
(You may remember us recently meeting up with family on their room balcony, HERE)
Me, Bro and Sis!
A visiting Fleetwood Mac tribute band was performing. The band started well, then went into what I would term as more obscure FM material, a bit Nicks/Buckingham-centric. I never did think that this music genre suited their band's set up.
I have to say my jiggling and sing-alonging stopped and I disconnected a little. Much of the crowd seemed to start talking amongst themselves.
I started looking over the beach wall. I photographed a kayaker.
I photographed artistically positioned festival glasses, and yearned to be splashing about in that water, for the weather was very hot - perhaps I didn't stress that enough?
Oh and by this time the band had truly lost me. My thoughts strayed to OOTDs. I did a 360 from where I stood and observed that little dresses seem to be the thing for this sort of gig. So cool and lightweight. I resolved to pull out something light and summery and one-piece for the next gig, Blondie (tribute of course).
And of course, my clicking finger couldn't resist a festival gig selfie.
But then the band got back on track ... my track. They started back on the earlier stuff that we all know and love.
The crowd engaged with the band once more and there was much singing, dancing and air punching stuff. I think the band had worked out where they'd gone astray and clawed us all back into their musical fold.
.
So all in all, this was a super afternoon with company, weather and music (mostly) pitched just right.
I think this picture says it all - what a day!

For my Sibs.
Do you like this type of open-air gig?
Maybe music's not your thing. I know so little about you, so this post may be something you just scroll and move on from in the flash of a finger-scrolling flick.
But, as Fleetwood Mac would say,
Oh Well.
A la perchoine
Mary,Mary, sometimes I just want to be you ;-) This honestly looks like just the perfect day.
ReplyDeleteDear, dear, Susan, you are so funny! It was a darned good day, alright. Hugs, my sweet
DeleteOpen air gigs sound wonderful! We have some here and I usually stay away because I imagine crowds and heat but ya know what? I'm gonna step outside of my comfort zone and go! I need to start doing things and I think Brian and I would both have fun! We love a good tribute band, too bad the FM one lost you and the rest of the crowd. I'd LOVE to see a Blondie tribute band.
ReplyDeleteSo thanks for inspiring me to get off my duff and start doing. I'll let ya know how it goes!
xo,
Kellyann
Oh aren't they just?! You survived in the heat for Tears For Fears, my friend! But I really do hope I boss, oops, encourage you to break out of your CZ on this one. I've been saying exactly the same to TP recently, we don't do enough stuff, it's so easy to drift into stay-at-homes types but sometimes I want to break free. These days I'm put off big gigs (fear of toilet arrangements), you won't find me at Glastonbury but you will find me at gigs a 15 minute walk from the house and a sanitary toilet!
DeleteMy tips: wear a hat, thin layers and comfy shoes. Don't drink coffee beforehand and only drink baby sips whilst there, you'll sweat that out of your system! And don't be embarrassed to park said duff on a collapsible chair, TP takes one.
Now go forth and enjoy some summer music. Hugs x.
I LOVE open air gigs. So our thing, good for dancing and people watching. And I’m a huge Stevie Nicks fan so I would’ve loved it and been singing along. Darling hat you GORGEOUS GIG GOER!!!
ReplyDeleteKnew you'd be a gigg-er - shame you didn't join me! The real Stevie Nicks would have got my attention ... and TP's for sure!
DeleteHugs my pretty, x.
It looks and sounds like a great event. Love the hat; I'm a huge hat fan!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to grab the hat wearing opportunities, eh Sandy. Thanks for popping in, hugs x.
DeleteHow fabulous! There's nothing quite like open air music, drinks and sunshine. I'm sure you were on a high after this super occasion. Jacqui Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteWell I was on a high but not as high as TP, he started blasting out FM when we got home too! Hugs my sweet, x.
DeleteI know I've said it before but you sure live in a beautiful area! You have so much fun as there always seems to be something to do.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks, Amy, and I don't tire of hearing that! I'm so lucky to have so much going on and nothing further away than a 20 minute drive max. I should go to more but I get lazy! Hugs my pretty, x.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous day. Looks like lots of fun although heat and crowds are not my thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy, it was! The temp was v. low 20s and you can see the crowd wasn't anything up to US gig size! So perfectly bearable for a pensioner. Hugs my lovely, x
DeleteIt looks so much fun! I would have been lost in the crowd - I'm the height of a small child haha xx
ReplyDeleteHaha, Maria! Well you can see that I was in danger of being tramped upon, I'm a shortie. Hugs my sweet, x.
DeleteYou do such a great job in bringing us the vibe, the feel, the outfits, of an event like this. I almost felt I was there. Your hat looked great! You suit a hat. x
ReplyDeleteOh you are sweet, sweet, SWEEEEET, my dear friend, thank you. Hugs my beauty, x.
Deletewhat a great holiday. Please feel free to stop over at A Labour of Fashion and link up today
ReplyDeleteNot a holiday, sweetie, it's where I live, but it sometimes feels like I'm on holiday! Hugs my lovely, x.
DeleteLooks beautiful, a perfect setting by the beach, glorious weather AND Fleetwood Mac!! Hope they played 'Go your own way' my favourite!! Great hat too!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Missy, they played GYOW and I was bopping away and singing along (much to the annoyance of those around me 😉. You're right, the setting is just perfect. Thanks for popping in, hope I net you in again soon! Hugs my summer sizzling missy, x.
DeleteYou obviously had a great time, and FWM tribute, perfect. A day music event is so much more fun at my age than a night time affair where I can't be bothered to get out of the sofa to get there. Fab hat and selfies. You made me smile in that hat.
ReplyDeleteSo glad my old hat made you smile but you're so right about evening stuff, though the lighter nights do make it a tad easier eh? You do seem to have a lot of evening fun in London though ... and Chelsea, you lucky lady!
DeleteHugs my sweet, x.
This sounds like my kind of day! Sunshine, music, good times! Love your hat Mary! i am a fan of Fleetwood Mac, and their looks like quite a crowd!
ReplyDeleteI love the water too.. so I would be one to feel like you.. just let me jump in!
thanks for linking!

Hi Jess, thanks for your lovely comment and thanks for hosting. It's interesting that this type of music has no age boundaries. There's more than a few decades between us but you and I could easily be standing next to each other at this type of gig, both enjoying the moment. And then acting like water babes in the sea after!
