Well they seem to have this past year.
Not jeans per se, but those of the denim persuasion.
These past few months I’ve worn coated jeggings, faux leather leggings, thick jeggings, but ne’er a denim jean has been seen.
I tried wearing some at the weekend. They lasted all of one minute on me. They feel claustrophobic after the freedom of thinner fabric.
All my jeans feel claustrophobic.
I researched high polyester content and recently ordered a pr of barrel jeans with some polyester content, hoping they’d be lighter. Nope, they’ve gone straight back, seems polyester isn’t the magic ingredient.
I even popped into Marks whilst in town during the week for the IRL test. There were many white blue black and grey jeans that looked fine, until I touched them. So thick. Yuck! And this is Marks’ spring range!
I’ve shared my experiences today so you can see I have made some effort to re-join the jean gang.
So I researched what I wore SS24 and seems jeans featured occasionally, but just the one pair (note to self - check out their fabric make up). It was mostly white jeans and beige chinos. Thus yesterday these pieces found their way into my spring capsule.
Here are some ways I wore my bottoms.
So that leaves me signing off with a plea to you lovely ladies out there. Can you recommend any jeans that are of lightweight thin fabric? Jeans that can parallel the soft freedom I’ve enjoyed from coated jeans, winter leggings and faux leather?
Help!!!!
Ala be perchoine,
Mary x.
Well, I have never been a jeans person. Apart from one pair of black semi smart M&S straight leg for smartish casual wear.
ReplyDeleteHowever, a friend recently gave me a pair of Gerry Weber dark wash denims with a gentle flared leg which are very light and comfortable for our Spring weather. Perhaps you could take a look for something similar?
Thanks, Jacqui, it does show that soft jeans are out there, but may require searching an investment brand. Hope you show them on your blog!

Hi Mary, me again. Had to comment to say I empathise with your jeans dilemma. Having searched the carrots, barrels, boyfriends, flares, wide-legs and bootcuts I settled for a pair of "Mom" (?) style from Asda. Robell or Brax have nice jeans but quite pricey. Trish
ReplyDeleteYou’ve been through the jeans mill too Trish! Glad you found some good mum jeans, maybe that’s my next port of call. I’ve not come across those two pricier brands, I’ll look out for them. Thank you!

I wish you luck on your jeans search! It can be hard to find the perfect pair of jeans I find. I sometimes get lucky at the opshop with older versions from my previous go-to jeans brand, it's shut down now but I always get excited when I see a pair second hand! As they are only a cold weather option for me and I'm in a different country I don't think I can be much help unfortunately with recommendations :( But I really hope you find the perfect pair!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mica, I know you don’t wear jeans that often being in a nice warm clime. I’m glad you can still find your fave jeans brand in your local charity shops.
DeleteHave a lovely weekend, Mary x.
Hi Mary, I sympathise! I have just ordered four pairs of M&S jeans to try and get a pair like the M&S cropped slim cut I bought last year in light denim colour that have been discontinued. I find the very dark indigo never suits me and is always a heavier fabric at M&S. However like you I am always after the holy grail of jeans and M&S are nearest! I have bought a pair of light denim colour Mom & Boyfriend M&S jeans this week that are good but not the greatest and also they dont look good with flat shoes - thats another topic! I love comfortable flats with a small wedge which are hard to find, ballet flats make me look flat footed!
ReplyDeleteOh I feel your pain Anonymous. You are putting in the hours but not finding the holy grail and having to just settle for what you find passable. I think the jeans struggle will be real this year.
DeleteAnd yes, the perfect shoe IS another story, ballet flats are uncomfortable for fallen arches and I walk clumsily in them. So good luck on your jean AND shoe quests!
