There are posts that don't make it on to my blog. Sometimes because I feel a post fails on content, photography or simply attitude - and occasionally all three!
These drafts linger in my blogger's wilderness.
I've brought this early-summer reject back from the wilderness today (after cutting it back to the salient points - it rambled!) because it will link in to another post coming up soon.
So here I give you brown, revisited.
My recent blue jacket search HERE reunited me with a few forgottens. Like this brown print lined cotton lawn affair.
East dress and cardi.
Bought in sale about 10+ years ago, during my Brown Period.
Never worn, so BNWT, to use eBay language!
It's quite long, though not as long as it looks in these pics!
And though it was reduced considerably from its original £80 price tag, I still don't like to chuck it out when it's never had even one airing. Should it stay or should it finally go?
Oh the trials of a dithering hoarder ...
So I did what all experienced ditherers do, I switched focus.
To footwear. M&S glittery espadrilles.
These espadrilles seem a good partner for the dress, should I ever bite the bullet and wear it!
So that's my rejected post, revisited.
Next stop, Highway 61,
Revisited.
A la perchoine.
Oh Mary, this did strike a chord with me as I too have had a brown period in the past - my daughter used to laugh at me as I brought home yet another pair of brown trousers as if they were a well earned trophy. The dress is surely too pretty to discard, especially as you did such a wonderful job pairing it up with those sparkly sandals. I do hope you get a final blast of (Indian) summer so that you can take a stroll out in your lovely finery.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
Anna x
Brown buddies!! Funny cos brown isn't a colour I'd link with you, ever! I made a mental tally of all my browns today. Embarrassing.
DeleteWe're enjoying our second summer now and I'm sure it's sizzling on Tresco too; I haven't worn any brown ... have you, Anna?!!
Sunny hugs, x.
I absolutely love the espadrilles!!! Not yet sure about the dress but it may grow on me..haha. Yes, I do remember your brown period and loved it. I think we both wore brown around the same time?
ReplyDeleteTo quote Basil Brush, boom boom !
DeleteYes we did have a good Brown Period, I remember you had a lovely cardi.
Let's be brownies together again !
Indian summer hugs, x.
I love the espadrilles! Definitely a keeper. I think you'll appreciate the pretty brown dress in fall too! Do you have a mustard yellow or rust cardigan to wear with it to pop out more color?
ReplyDeleteOh so funny you say that because when I looked at these pics again, I was thinking autumn, maybe that's what this dress was all along! Like your colour suggestions, hadn't thought of those colours so thanks for your inspo, Amy.
DeleteWishing you a sunny Sunday, x
Amy is right, a colourful cardi with make this dress adorable in autumn. Or your denim jacket will look trendy. I actually like this dress. Lise
ReplyDeleteOh I am on the case, Lise, thanks for your idea of the denim jacket too!
DeleteWishing you a sunny Sunday, x.

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to like it too, Lise, now all these suggestions are coming my way!
DeleteHis, x.
Agree with the consensus of a colorful Cardi! The glittery espadrilles make me wanna dance! Love and you my glittery lovely friend...let’s go dancing in twirly dresses and glittery espadrilles! Happy weekend sweets!
ReplyDeleteColour and denim it is then, Andrea! I'm getting excited about autumning up this dress now. And oh how I wish we could go a-twirlin' and a-glitterin' together tonight, what absolute fun that would be!
DeleteHappy sunny Sunday to you and the mister, x.
Love the brown outfit, and your espadrilles are super. I've got similar and need to wear them before the summer leaves us this year. Jacqui Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jacqui, I'm coming round to luminary dress now. Hope you're having the gorgeous weather we are! Hus, x.
DeleteSparkling shoes that can be worn with everything, now those are keepers! I quite like that brown dress with all the pretty colors and pattern. I really don't own much brown but a few years back I did, must have been a phase for us all!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a spectacular weekend, just like those espadrilles!
xo,
Kellyann
Oh yeah, baby, they're keepers!
DeleteSo funny that a few here have mentioned their brown period - mine was about 15 years ago. If you've kept some (like I did!) then let's make Autumn our Brown Period Revisited ...
We're having our second summer right now, so I had a beach and garden laze day yesterday. Hope you're having a spectacularly sparkling weekend too.
Hugs, x.
I also had a brown period --- and now that brownb is finally returning as a fashion shade, perhaps you should hang on to that dress. If you don't wear it in the next few months, maybe it should go. The sparkling shoes are lovely - I love a bit of sparkle on my shoe!
ReplyDeleteHi Gail, the Brown period seems to have been prevalent amongst us. I read our article about Brown being a colour for autumn. I listed my browns yesterday (ouch, embarrassing!) then looked at this dress in a new light, it's not a summer dress as marketed but an Autumn dress! And with that new approach, I now like it!!
DeleteWishing you and Me M a sparklingly sunny Sunday, x.
It's a lovely dress and why wouldn't you wear it? Especially with the fab glittery espadrilles.
ReplyDeleteXxxx
Hi Vronni, great to have you back from your sabbatical! I think the issue with the dress is that it was sold to me in summer but it's a autumn dress. I'm seeing boots, belt and cardi each time I look at it now. Hugs, x.
