La Duchesse's Notes From a Smaller Island #4

A hot summer's day.  Down in beach, mooching around the little pools left in the rocks by the ebbing tide.  Come rockpooling with La Duchessa ...

We call these urchins "bloodsuckers" though they probably have a really fancy Latin name.
I don't remember ever seeing them displaying their fancy fronds, but La Duchesse caught them dressed in their finery when out rockpooling.

A couple of limpits thrown in to mix things up a bit!

So beautiful.

And talking of beauty in nature ...

... a Painted Lady butterfly feeding off the nectar on one of our buddleia bushes.

A la perchoine.

    1. Why thank you, sweet princess. Our summers are very different that's for sure; the grass is always greener and when I holidayed in Florida I wanted to buy a house there! My friend lived in Guernsey for 30 years so she loves the place but is pleased to be back with her family in Holland now. Hugs, x.

    1. Thanks, Christy and yes, this summer is glorious. If you can remember back to British summers then you'll remember how excited we get over a bit sun!
Hope your summer is glorious too. Hugs, x.

  3. Fab photos! I love rock pooling and beach combing; I'm always looking out for sea glass and coral to add to my collection in the caravan...

    1. Thanks Vronni, and here's the thing. My friend is collecting sea glass for me whilst she's staying in my house! Can you find coral in the beaches in Ireland?!! Hugs, x.
