Bright Blue Butterflies

Hello everybody, how are you?
Hope it's a good-good week for you.

Last weekend was busy-busy for me.  A special birthday lunch with the family,  a film,  a glorious beach day, a really nice sleepover, a roast with The Sibs.  All lovely.  And yup, there were a fair few wardrobe changes!

The birthday lunch was in a fave restaurant and it was sunny and fairly warm but not one of our el skorchios of late.

I fancied breaking open my bright blue.

I added white jeans and some fairly high light tan sandals.  I haven't worn these oldies for a few years.
If you buy extremely comfy shoes, which these 16 year old footgloves are, then you'll find yourself going back to them for decades, to heck with the current fashion!
As it happens, these aren't too much off the mark style-wise, with some platform and a lorra wedge.

So, it's worth bearing in mind this simple equation when shoe shopping -
comfortable shoe + classic design + neutral colour = years of wear.

I happened to have my silk butterfly scarf hanging near this blue t shirt.  And hey,  I spotted that a few of the butterflies were the exact same bright blue as the top.  What's a gal to do?!

So here's another way to guarantee good mileage.  When choosing a scarf -
make it silk for a great fall,
choose a scarf with as many colours as you can find,
ensure some of those colours are your wardrobe favourites,
don't scrimp on size, for max'ing scarf versatility.

Follow those shopping guidelines and you'll find the scarf is a go-to with a whole myriad of outfits.  A scarf that keeps on giving!

I wore bone coloured beads and bracelet to link in to the jeans.  I think this lifts the blue.

I added my East white denim jacket and I was pleased I did as a restaurant door was open and blasting in a bit of cooler air, nature's AC, you could say.
But it felt a bit strange wearing a jacket indoors in summer so I was cunning.  I ditched the jacket and with a couple of knots made a shrug from the scarf and that fine layer was just enough to keep that chillette at bay.  Wish I'd taken a pic of it, it was pretty nifty.

And what did I say earlier - go large on scarves to max out versatility!

Yup, this scarf keeps on surprising me.

When wearing the scarf I slip the necklace under the top, then just pop it out when the scarf morphs into a shrug!

And for fear of this white jacket making me look like an ice cream seller of yore,  the scarf became an essential when jacketed up!

Outfit recap

East - denim jacket, ca 2003.
Accessorize - silk butterfly scarf, bought a few years ago.
M&S - Jeans from winter sale, £8; Footglove sandals, 2002;
modal top, £7.50. It's THE ONE I LOOKED PREGNANT IN. HERE, which TP didn't like, but which now he loves ( and so do I).
I think his change of heart comes from teaming the top with white jeans and sandals with a bit of height.  A zingier look.

What do you think, O stylish reader, better with white jeans than with chinos?

SIMILAR HERE  from Madeleine.
(Just spotted that my outfit looks remarkably like this one, and I wasn't even doing a style steal!)

And now, for the food pic aficionados out there -

My bang-bang chicken salad.

TP's finger framing his scallop and crab thermidor.

And Tadaah!

My Summer Project.
This restaurant serves 24 flavours of ice cream.
We worked it out that coming in for two scoops a week and with time off for holidays, I may just get through tasting all 24 come October ...

And I leave you with that yummy thought.

A la perchoine.

    1. Hey thanks Lise, I have to say I felt quite perky in the blue and white but there will be days when I will want to dampen the punch with more subdued chinos. Thanks for your thoughts, hugs x

  3. I am so glad TP came over to my side about the top. It looks absolutely fabulous. I love it with the white, and how awesome that you have such dear old friends to keep your feet comfortable. I would say they are the perfect summer shoes. You made me hungry again...going to check if I have ingredients to make lobster thermador. HAHAHAHAHAHA Guess I will have to settle for ice cream. Would you like to sell me some? Oh, never mind! I see that you are wearing a beautiful scarf. Seriously, love all the looks you created.

  4. You are a beauty in blue and the scarf is perfection! I don't own a silk scarf but I'll keep your tips in mind when I shop. And right-o you are about the shoes, comfy, neutral, and classic style = years of wear! You look stunning my stylish sista!
Love the food too and yes, go for it, try all the ice creams!!!

    1. Now look here, my fabulous Floridian friend, you NEED
a silk scarf! But it has to be a scarf that sings to you in the shop and one that puts a smile on your face. Only then will it be your friend for life. I have two silkies I bought in Copenhagen in 1980 that still sprinkle me with their magic! And I still yearn for a navy and bone long silkie from the early 70s that some time walked out on me. Silk scarves have unique, unforgettable characters. You need one in your life, but don't fret, yours will seek you out, for that is what they do. Hugs my sweet, and happy hunting, x.
