White Skirt Goes To Lunch

Hi darling people, the sun is shining, the birds are singing ... and I've been taken out!
Yup, the system works.  I dropped a none-too-subtle hint in my previous post and I got a date day.  OK, when interrogated   asked politely, TP did say that he'd invited me out yesterday and he'd read my post this morning.  And I really do have to take him at his word.  But in all honesty, the campaigning  had been going on for days before The Hint hit the blog, so I'm thinking that my system does really work.

So, a date lunch with TP.  Let's sort out an outfit.
It's a Sunday lunch in a nice restaurant - that calls for something casual but smart.
A navy/white Breton fits the bill, yanked up a notch with an old summer necklace of yore.

The forecast is for a whole stream of sunny days and warm temps.  So it really is time to get out my little white linen skirt, originally presumed MIA after a make-up accident in Corfu many years ago but then miraculously found in the attic recently.  Oh, I love that story, I could dine out on it for months.  So it's only fitting that it was taken out to dine!

As the temps are going to be perfect for this little white skirt, I pulled out some tops to go with it.  Sleeveless tops. And then a cardi or two, just in case the forecasters get it wrong.
My little white skirt.  Is there a better base from which to start? And if those cheeky chappies and chappesses at the Met Office do mess it up, I can always substitute the skirt for white crops.
Sounds like a good plan, Pout.

Let's do something crazy today.  Let's start with footwear.  Initially, I put on some comfy heels but as we were walking to the restaurant I swapped these pdq for some comfier Clarks flat sandals.

I popped the neckace inside the stripey top and  slipped on an infinity scarf for the walk, to be taken off in the restaurant and the necklace then pulled out.  Tadaah!

And a walk to the coast needs to be hands-free as I like a lot of arm swing.
So my cross-over came too.

Slip on some massive Haven over-glasses sunnies and your Pout was good to go.

And here's where TP took me us, for you came too.

La Reunion.   I've taken you there so many times before so I'll spare you the detail.
It clouded up a bit by the time we were seated.  Shame, you would so have enjoyed the view.

Starters.  You and I ate prawns with melon balls and carpaccio.  Yes, the latter is melon sliced uber thinly.  So yummy but would I have the patience to recreate this at home.
I doubt it.  Life's too short.
TP's soup, however, I may just recreate.  Asparagus, Fennel and something else (oh my brain these days!)  I thought that the fennel would overpower the asparagus but it did not and this was a winner.

Lobster.  And chips.  Whoohooo!  Then a double espresso finished off our lunch.
Thanks, TP - my readers and I and my little white skirt much appreciated your kind gesture.
Can we do it again some time soon?!

A la perchoine.

    1. Hi Lizette, and welcome to my humble blog and thanks for your sweet words.

Oh no, an accident so soon after I was reunited with the skirt would have made me very sad indeed. The accident happened with another white skirt, you can find out about it missing here http://thepoutingpensioner.blogspot.com/2017/04/skirt-hunt.html.
      and then found here https://thepoutingpensioner.blogspot.com/search?q=White+skirt.

  4. perfect styling here Mary, The Cross body bag and a scarf for the chills. I like that idea. The views still look good even though it's cloudy. We had sun, wind and rain here at the weekend! It's hard to know what to wear! xx

    1. Absolutely, Laurie, we left the house in breezy sun and by the time the wine arrived it had clouded, so this time of year we've got to pack some back up! Glad you like the styling - it was just right for the walk, the place and the time of day. So nice to be in skirts.

    1. Sooo kind, Amy, thank you. The thing I like about this little skirt is that it works with most things in my summer wardrobe and it's a skirt that brings me joy when I wear it. What's not to like about that?!!
