Breakfast At Christies

Hello, maties.

Togged up in faux neckage again today.

As per my suggestion, I tried the neck-whatsit on my head.  Didn't work.

Maybe best kept where it's designed to be.  Around the neck, keeping me snug.

I had to go into Town to stock up on Clarins cleansing products.  The Photographer had an early morning eye check up so I tagged along with him, thus saving petrol pennies and the environment.

I was quite perfunctory about my purchases.  No sidetracking.  Buying only what I went in for.
I popped my nose into M&S - not much doing in there currently, nothing to tempt.  Well apart from two little button-up cardis and I MUST STOP BUYING THOSE!

The good news is that I bought zilch in January other than groceries and toiletries.
My no-spend January plan honoured.  Done.

The bad news is that this little grey cross-over bag was calling my name in Accessorize.

This plain grey scarf on the right was making similar noises.

This scarf in the middle murmured a little too.

But I walked away, unspent, met up with The Photographer.  It was still very early ...

... and I said "What about Breakfast at Christies?"
And he said "I think I remember the place.
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it" ...
So we went there.

Breakfast At Tiffany's, re-worked for the purpose of this post!

My breakfast.

His breakfast.

Such a Retired Person thing to do, yet we never rarely do it.
I have observed that friends and bloggers seem to go out for morning coffees or afternoon tea and cake.  Do you?  We never seem to think to do that.  But it did feel kinda nice.

A la perchoine.

  1. You have been very good keeping to your no spend policy in January. Particularly when there are many sales to tempt us.

My husband and I do the breakfast thing when we go to a distant city to shop as it gives us a new lease of energy part way through shopping.

    1. HI Christy, and thanks, I've even held off investing in the grey boots which I so lust after!
It's lovely to hear how you and hubby brighten up your shopping trips. I'm going to have to start thinking that way as our little breakfast was pretty nice.

  2. I'm so pleased your using the faux fur challenge still. I spotted your attraction to grey too. Think of me with porridge at my desk whilst you breakfast galavant.

    1. Anna, I have to thank you for getting my faux back into the mainstream. I do think of your porridge but then I also think of the beautiful gnashers ahead and then I don't feel quite so bad!

  3. I did a no spend in January too, but I have to stay out of the stores because everything speaks to me as well! When I start shopping again I do want to find a fur scarf like yours - so pretty & it looks warm!

    1. Welcome to my blog, Lana. Well done with your no-spend. My faux friend is so snug and is very old; there are great choices around. Good luck with your search.

  4. Having seen your outfits with your faux fur, I now regret taking mine (with matching hat) to the Salvation Army shop! I should pay more attention in future. Percy and I do morning coffee every day of the week, as part of our morning walk. I can't imagine life without it now!

    1. So sweet, Tamara and thanks for popping in. I'm not wearing quite so much fur as you did on your cold day, but I'm getting there!

    1. Yours sounds nice, Marlene, and I'm long to see it posted on your blog. Like you , if my neck is warm then I can face the day. Glad you like the look of my brekkie!

  7. Breakfast out is not something we do, mainly because we live so far from anywhere that would serve us a great breakfast or as nice as the two you two had. Now lunch out, is different. Our little coffee/pecan shop has just started offering sandwiches and soup for lunch and we might go in today to try her menu.

Congratulations for making it through a month of "apparel diet"as I call it. I didn't even try this month-to many good sales. Back in 2012 I went a whole year without buying any clothes (fabric never counts with me-so may have gotten some of that). But I think I will try it for this February-after all it is a short month and maybe I can get through 28 days!

Is that bag grey with taupe accents-if it is those are great colors! I can see why you want it.

    1. Thanks for popping in, Terri. I forget how different it must be living in America; on our itsy-bitsy island everything is close-by. The lunch place sounds lovely, bon appetit.
Good luck with your apparel-diet-Feb. I have to say I'm not a big spender but no-spends make me conscious of those little ad hoc buys that could easily slip in. But a whole year ... Wow!
Yes, the bag is a lovely sludge colour of grey/taupe, so goes with everything.
