Its's Good To Be Back

Last year we were celebrating our anniversary with a nice lunch at a favourite restaurant.

This year I spent our anniversary in hospital having a breast cancer removed.  Probably the best ever anniversary present for us both, all things considered.

I have immense gratitude and respect for our island’s health professionals and the administrative infrastructure, all work seamlessly  together with professionalism, empathy, friendliness and in a  reassuring manner.

Ok, I may have gone a bit gushy Oscar speech here but you get my drift, I’m thankful to the whole Guernsey medical machine.

So ladies, I hope I’m preaching to the converted when I say that sadly detection is key, making regular mammogram screenings vital which is how mine was picked up last month.

.

And let’s close today with a shout out to dear Andrea @livingoncloudnine9.  When we discovered we were having different ops but a day apart we gave each other some good old chummy pre-op support, and her cheerfulness, positivity and compassion made these past few weeks a whole lot better.  And we’re back Stronger and Better eh Andrea!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•

  1. Hi Mary,
It is lovely to see you back. I was wondering how you were and what was happening with you. Great to see your happy, smiling face again and to know that you received excellent care and the support of friends. Please take very good care of yourself and rest as much as you can. X

  2. It must be a relief now that you have come through it, smiling as usual.
I feel bad now that I had recently cancelled my routine mammogram appointment as I wasn't feeling up to it. You have made me think about rescheduling it.
    Take care xxx

  3. Congrats on your anniversary! I hope you have a speedy recovery from the surgery! It took my friend a while to bounce back from her mastectomy but she didn't let it beat her, she's an inspiration!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend :) We had a fun one with a couple of events.

  4. I am so thankful that you got regular screenings and caught it in time. I have always been too scared not to have them. As soon as the 3-D mammograms became available, I started having those. They can pick up a lot more I think. So yes, at least here, you are preaching to the choir! And happy anniversary!
